The Caledonian Hotel

Booked this hotel as we were going to a family party at another venue, in total I think there was 4 or 5 rooms booked by family. We were asked when we checked in if we were going g to be having dinner and if so what time, we were unsure and asked if we could just come down if we changed our mind, we were told that wouldn't be a problem. We did change our mind and came down to the restaurant at 17.45 and was told they were really busy with 3 large table of guests ( not hotel guests ) we explained we were told this would be fine and what we were told by the reception staff and also that we were guests at the hotel. Eventually after some huffing and puffing we were seated in the bar area only to be told that it will be upto 30 to 45 mins before we could get food because they were busy. We explained again we were guests at the hotel and also we had a family function to be at for 7pm, we eventually got food after 20 mins, no complaints on the food that was lovely. Breakfast time was even worse. We came downstairs at 9, gave our room numbers to the staff and shown to our seats. Was then giving the menus kept for non residents, different prices etc. Again we had to tell the staff we were guests at the hotel even after they took our room numbers and eventually was giving the correct menus. Hot water for tea and coffee was barely warm however the breakfast was nice.

Day out in Leven. Great food and excellent service. From the moment we arrived has a lovely welcome and shown to seats perfect for the family as our almost three year old lovely twins were with us, kids were immediately given colouring in to amuse them. A great choice for adults and kids. Food arrived all was of a high standard for a restaurant chain. Service by the waitress and her assistant was exceptional making sure we were ok and kids content. Will be back. Worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Gemma leigh was our server and was a lovely girl. I came for lunch with my mum. Mum had the salmon fillet and new potatoes and I fish and chips. The food is excellent and the service is excellent and efficient.
