The Harper

We enjoyed two nights at The Harper in a biggest + double room. The room was great, spotlessly clean and very spacious with a beautiful bathroom. The spa is a real treat and it was lovely to have private use for thirty minutes each day. Robes, towels and flip flops are all provided. The Den is a great space with a pool table and board games. My only gripe was paying £9 for a shot of Gordon’s gin. The breakfast was fantastic, fresh croissants and a choice of cooked options, all of which were high quality and delicious. We had Sunday dinner at The Langham Blue Bell where the roasts were exceptional! Overall it was a great stay and highly recommended!

We have just come back from the most unrivalled stay at the Harper. Everything was absolutely next level and we were treated like royalty. The room was spotless, with the comfiest bed and we stayed as 3 friends in the combo room. The hour use of the spa was heaven as it was totally private and the hot tub was the perfect temperature. Massages were attentive and we all left feeling very relaxed. At Stanley’s for dinner, the service was the best I have ever experienced and the two gentlemen that served us were so kind, funny and made excellent recommendations. The food was unbelievable. We had the Lamb cutlets and shepherds pie and it was to die for. Then cocktails and bed! The next morning a gorgeous breakfast and another swim! We will be booking again and cannot recommend highly enough. A 10/10 luxury stay. Thank you all!

Once again a most enjoyable and comfortable stay. Genuinely warm welcome from all the staff from front desk, bar and housekeeping. Food continues to be delicious and some lovely surprises in the form of the rhubarb fool - exquisite. Special thank you to Luca on reception who was kind enough to help out with a personal issue. Now looking forward to our next visit.

Having just returned from a birthday stay and read some of the other reviews i felt i had to leave a review ourselves. Like many others have said, the location is stunning, but the service and general 'feel' of the place is lacking. For the price point it really needs to be A+ service but falls far short, a lot of the simple things were poorly executed, or simply not thought about. - The management were informed of dietary requirements weeks in advance but treats left in the room had allergens in them. Not a massive issue, but again, its the small touches that make the difference when paying £300 a night. - There is clearly a staffing issue, we had our planned massage treatments cancelled 2 hours before due to staff sickness, can't be helped, but again left a sour taste. - Our evening food order was incorrect, but was dealt with swiftly. Perhaps the most disappointing thing however was the steam room being out of order, something that another reviewer reported over a month ago, this could have been explained to us on arrival, but we found out when we went to the pool. Issues like this could and should have been sorted swiftly, especially as we saw workmen around the spa throughout our stay. I will say the lady on reception (Caroline) was lovely and very apologetic, and we were offered compensation off our food bill, which was accepted, and reflected in the review score we've given. However that aside it is evident from the other reviews here, and our own experience, that long-standing issues exist with the management, service and staffing which lets down what could be a nice spa

The 3 day Christmas experience was good but fell short of expectations and the top luxury experience the prices and marketing suggest. The room was comfortable and furnished with style. Ours overlooked a courtyard and the spa/ pool. The staff were all friendly and very helpful, going the extra mile to sort things. They are a real positive. However the food served and speed of service was variable - four small courses for Christmas dinner were excellent but the main course simply not worthy of a 4 or 5 star hotel. Service seemed disorganised. Similarly for the consistency of breakfasts. Jams on the table but never offered toast. The Christmas event was relaxed and enjoyable but standards need to rise to match the pricing. No problems in booking slots for spa/ pool and it is beautifully done, with the broken steam room the only disappointment there. Dog friendly which will suit many but customers less comfortable with that should note. The area is charming and interesting but I note recent reviews are 50/50 and I would wait for more positives before returning.

They are rude staff and management. I don't recommend this place to anyone. I felt like I didn't belong there the whole stay. Very curt responses to queries. I'm not going to consider this company's other properties either. I will definitely do more research when considering a stay in Langham.
