The Alma Inn

Booked for a meal on the Saturday intending to have the fruits de mer. Not available on Saturday, called them and very kindly chef said they would do it for us. As to the meal itself, the oysters, king prawns and crab were good, however the mussels were poor, and the lobster was disappointing Overall a nice experience but very expensive.

This place is a gem. Went for new year and had a brilliant time met fantastic people. The staff were brilliant. From walking in to the pub we were met by Isobel on reception who looked after us along with her manager. The staff that night went above and beyond and made it a place we want to return to. The food was excellent the rooms were immaculate . All in all it was like spending new year with the family.

We had a great stay. The staff made it a fantastic experience. Really friendly housekeeping and servers made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Thank you Anna, Mia and Emma. There was also a lovely barman with curly dark hair who I can’t remember his name but also made our stay fantastic. The food was great. Breakfast was freshly cooked and really set you up for the day. The evening pub food was also really tasty, I would definitely recommend. The place is very relaxing and a comfortable retreat after a busy day.

We've just spent 2 nights at The Alma Inn. The hotel is a sensitively, refurbished 18th century coach house.The rooms are very well appointed and include waters, quality biscuits, tea and coffee. The bed and pillows were very comfy and the en-suite was large. The Inn is in an ideal location for many places of interest. The views of rolling countryside are faboulous. We were in the restaurant both nights and there was an excellent choice and all was very well cooked and presented with speedy service. I had one of the specials which was Seafood Choo Chee and it had an incredible depth of flavour. The desserts were excellent too. My dark chocolate fondant was like something off Masterchef - crispy on the outside and liquid in the middle. I'm gluten intolerant and my allergy was very well catered for. Breakfast was varied and delicious. The staff were terrific. Emma was friendly and knowledgeable about the foods on the menu etc and Yvonne, at breakfast, was also very friendly and suggested some good walks. We would not hesitate to go again.
