We chose the Calabash Hotel for our 20th Anniversary, and we are so glad we did! From the moment we arrived, we had exceptional service, being met enthusiastically by staff and a member of the Garbutt family. From there we were led to our amazing suite where they had decorated the whole thing for our anniversary! Beautiful decorations, a bottle of wine AND champagne, and delicious rum punch. Every detail top to bottom has been thought of at this hotel. From the little things like adapters and a ladder on the balcony to dry wet clothes to the larger things like personalized service at every turn, and the friendliest of staff, that are more like family. We have been to many resorts in the Caribbean, and this has taken the gold. The food is UNREAL. Breakfast on our patio (lobster Benedict!), lunch at the Beach Club (pizzas from gorgeous pizza oven!) and dinner at either Nori (get the Kiss of Fire roll) or Rhodes (where do I begin…everything was amazing). They also have nights at the beach club with live music. The food is really next level- the executive chef Nick has really nailed the balance between being local, inventive and having exceptional taste and quality. The house wines are lovely and delicious and the array of cocktails cannot be beat. The resort itself is quiet and peaceful. It’s not a place to go if you are looking for a night life. It’s where you go to recharge and reconnect. We were treated so graciously by everyone who worked at the Calabash. Concierge Stevens, ready and available to listen any time, George and Dennis at the bar giving impeccable service, always with a fist bump and a smile. Head maître d’ Michael and the restaurant staff were wonderful including Miguel, Sherlyn, Abigail, Morissa, Kendrick, Rhonda - honestly the entire crew were spectacular. The housekeeping staff were next level. Rooms were beautifully made a few times a day, and the mini bar always stocked by Gabriel with a big smile. We never had to ask for a thing! The grounds were so beautifully kept. The beach is beautifully set in a harbor. Lots to do from paddle boarding, kayaks, snorkeling at the West Indies Scuba hut right on the beach who run great tours and have a resident cat Mai Tai to make you happy. Jay led us on our snorkeling excursion to Glover Bay- only a 5 minute boat ride away, but it gave us a chance to see the island and its beauty by boat. Vaughn and Calvin at the beach never let us make our own chair beds, or go without a cold water or frosty beverage. For our island tour Ryan Bartholomew led us to the rainforest reserve where we interacted with the Mona monkeys on the island. A beautiful spot for hiking and seeing the island from above. Beautiful lake in the center formed in the crater of a volcano that erupted ages ago. We also went into the town of St George and hit the House of Chocolate, worth a visit. Lastly a spa visit is a definite to do while at the Calabash. Danielle and Hannah led us to spa bliss and the facil
