Le Royal Picardie

Very mixed experience... Room was perfectly acceptable for a 3 star hotel although AC unit's best days were probably in the 1990's and housekeeping was a bit erratic. Hotel is not in centre of Albert which is important because you won't want to dine at hotel & certainly won't want to use the bar because it seemed acceptable to have no beer...? If all you want is a bed then all's fine here

We highly recommend! Fantastic food and staff! We had a lovely room with everything we needed. Anais was just wonderful helping us - my husband walks with a cane. We wish we could have stayed here longer !! We will come back. It was the prettiest place and perfect location for touring !

We had a very enjoyable 3 night stay at this hotel. The bedroom was comfortable and cleaned daily. There was a separate bathroom and toilet. Great powerful hairdryer and nice shower including lovely smelling shower gel. Coffee and tea making facilities, although very mean with the milk and for some reason didn’t replenish breakfast tea so I had to ask for this. Breakfast was a bit surreal. On our first day we came down at 9:00 am, there were no plates, breakfast teabags, no milk, no croissants (which we had to ask for), we were not made aware that we could ask for eggs and bacon, and I only realised this was an option after reading the reviews on here. Service was very discreet and was literally do it yourself, which is fine but I think service could be improved in this area. All the items missing were replaced on asking, when I eventually found someone to ask. Nice lounge area and general decor overall good. Lots of parking. Not particularly disabled friendly, no lift to our room and my husband was using crutches so not ideal. I’d suggest the hotel might need to consider accessibility options. Albert has some decent restaurants and it is excellently located for visiting the Somme.

Reception friendly and helpful (Isabelle). Convenient as it has free secure parking but it is a bit of a walk into Albert - 15 minutes and not the most scenic. The room was a decent size. The breakfast was a let down. Limited choice and uninspiring. It’s a shame as it has the foundations to be a great place.

We stayed here for 2 nights in Feb 24 to allow us to visit the Somme Battlefields. Location - very easy to get to with a huge free car park. Easy to find when coming from out of town. We walked into Albert each night which was a 15 min stroll. The staff were lovley - the lady we met on arrival (A lady originally from Bristol so had perfect English!) was as welcoming as could be and this was the same for everyone we encountered, polite, helpfull and efficient. Bedroom well decorated and very comfortable. Breakfast nice selection, the eating area and restauraunt were all super. All in all we loved this hotel, although we spent most of out time out driving around or in the town this was a really nice hotel to come back to. Highly reccomend this and would like to hope we will be back.

We stayed at the Royal Picardie for a week to explore the Somme battlefields. The hotel was excellent - reasonably priced with nice and clean rooms. It wasn’t very full so all the staff had lots of time for us. Breakfast was decent - a limited range but all of it very good with eggs and bacon cooked to order. Superb pastries. We are once on the restaurant at night. The food was excellent but there was no atmosphere as we were more or less the only people there. The hotel is perfect for the Somme and about a kilometre outside Albert. Albert itself has plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars.
