We were looking for a place to stay for 3 nights to have 2 full days to discover both, the western and the eastern, sides of the North. Altnaharra was just in the middle and turned up on one of the search engines maps. At first we were a little confused as we would book without any deposit and just the hand-written email confirmation by Mandy. We were offered a Dinner for 20 GBP per Person, which we accepted for the first night, as we knew there wouldn't be much around. When we arrived we were greated by a lovely person which turned out to be Mandy. We were immediately offered Tea and Coffee and would be shown our room. The room was spacious with a beautiful mountain view. It was tidy, clean and it had a clean bathroom. The Dinner was freshly cooked and delicious, so we had it for the other two nights as well. The Breakfast was of course not a 10m long buffet like in a hotel, given that we were the only guests for most of the time, but we had a full english breakfast prepared to our wishes. For the other days Mandy would serve us Tea and Coffee when we came back from our adventures and would give us tips on what to see or where to drive. We're really sad Mandy and her Husband Lindsay are retiring from their B'n'B business. We would have loved to come back and to recommend this place to our friends.

Mandy and Paul were exceptional hosts who went out of their way to make us welcome. Strongly advise taking up their offer of a meal. Mandy’s casserole was second to none. The couple were a wealth of knowledge offering us great advice on our trip. Thank you for a real welcoming stay

Mandy and Lesley are fantastic and made us feel extremely welcome. We were a party of 5 and nothing was too much. Dinner and breakfast was brill and lots of good local knowledge and advice. Would recommend 100%. Lovely drive in and out too even getting advised to stop at the local shop to pick up beers 🙂

Two weeks ago we had an absolute lovely stay at Mandy’s and Lindsay’s Altnaharra B&B! They very helpful, warm and welcome hosts. The room and bathroom were spotless and there was a lovely breakfast served in the morning. Thank you so much for having us!

The rooms are immaculate, the owner is incredibly friendly and the food is amazing. We had a wonderful time staying here for three nights, and got lots of help planning our walks for those days. Cannot recommend it enough!

This is a gem of a b and b. We arrived on bicycles near the end of our Land's End to John O'Groats cycle ride and were given such a warm welcome from Mandy and Lindsay. Our room was spotlessly clean with fantastic views and the bed was huge and very comfortable. We had dinner cooked by Mandy which was delicious and an excellent breakfast too. Generally, we've found both food and accommodation expensive in Scotland, but this was amazing value for money. AnVery sadly, they are closing permanently in October so get there while you can!

Very comfortable and welcoming accommodation. The room was very comfortable with good views of the local hills. We had dinner here which was excellent and vegetarians are catered for. The breakfast was also very good and the hosts very friendly.

Run by a very friendly couple, who willingly gave good advice on routes to climb the local mountains. The room was clean with a comfortable bed and modern en-suite shower. Hot drinks can be made in the room and biscuits are provided. Welcomed with pot of tea and biscuits on arrival in the lounge. Lots of books and games available. We had a delicious home cooked evening meal one evening and the fine cooked breakfast set us up well for the day. We also took the optional packed lunch. Plenty of good parking space right in front of the house. The views from the rooms are spectacular.

Beautiful location with amazing views from our room. The bed was enormous but really comfortable and the towels were fluffy! Beautiful location with amazing views from our room. We had booked the dinner and this was delicious, home cooked food served piping hot and with Hamish the local wild stag peering interestedly through the window! I would recommend booking dinner as Mandy is a great cook and together with Lindsay, they are excellent hosts. There are also very limited options for eating in the immediate vicinity. It is an extremely good value for money stay and we would certainly come back.
