"We enjoyed our stay at the Van Buren hotel. The room was very spacious and very clean. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast had some variety and tasty. Good location. Only downside was no one told us we did not have any housekeeping if only staying 2 nights. So we had to hunt down housekeeping for fresh towels, cups, and coffee packets. Then housekeeping left an envelope “if we wanted to leave a tip.”"

Lake front property, quaint and cozy with enclosed sunroom that has a full size futon that will sleep 1 adult or 2 kids. There is a spacious deck overlooking the lake with table seating for 6 and a comfy seating area with an optional large umbrella for shade. There is also a charcoal grill for your convenience and a hammock in the back yard to relax in. You’ll enjoy your own sandy beach area. There is also a 8’ wide 48’ long dock what is shared with the house on the left facing the lake with electric for your boat. We also have 14 foot fishing boat with tiller steering for rent at $150/daily. Messick Lake is a fishing lake that is attached to 4 other lakes you can easily access by boat- 2 others that are also fishing lakes and 2 that are fish and ski lakes with no curfew on tubing or skiing. You’ll also find a restaurant you can access by boat on one of the lakes! The cabin although small is comfortable and enjoyable with 2 bedrooms - 1 with a queen size bed and 1 with a full size bed. There is AC and heat in the cabin for your comfort. The living room has an oversized chair, couch that could sleep 1 adult or kif, 1 futon that can sleep 2 adults, and upon request we can provide 2 extra cots. The cabin is fully stocked with a full size fridge, stove, coffee pot (we provide the filters), pots and pans and silverware, just bring your food and beverages! The beds have clean and fresh linens, and weekend stays will enjoy 6 clean bath towels while full week stays will enjoy 10 clean bath towels. There are Adult (2 included) and kid Kayaks (2 available and included), additional kayaks ($12) to rent as well as well as a canoe ($15). There are many walking trails and parks nearby to enjoy and local restaurants. There is also a nice boat launch next to the property! The main level Bedroom has a King bed with chest of drawers and a closet for your clothes. The Full Bath is right outside the Master Bath and is stocked with towels,washcloths! The back entrance serves as a mud room, and has a Washer and Dryer for your use should you need it. Swim, kayak, or simply relax on our spacious deck as you take in views of the quiet, 61-acre “no wake” Pigeon Lake. Spend the day floating or kayaking down the Pigeon River, ending right at your cozy home away from home!
Nature lovers will delight in regular visits from eagles, osprey, deer, otters, turkeys, beavers, and more.
Fishing enthusiasts will enjoy easy access to trout-stocked waters each spring. Smallmouth and largemouth bass, walleye, northern pike, catfish, crappie, and bluegill are all possible catches.

The fully stocked kitchen includes basic cooking essentials (salt, pepper, olive oil, utensils, pots & pans, toaster, crockpot) and a large island with extra bar seating. The dining table overlooks the lake—an ideal spot for every meal.

Relax on a large, comfy sofa (which pulls out into a twin/double bed) and enjoy movie night on our 65” Roku Smart TV. Free high-speed Wi-Fi and local channels are available for your convenience.

Shopping is conveniently located 15 minutes north in Sturgis, Michigan where you'll find a Walmart, Meijer, Walgreens, CVS, Dollar General and many restaurants.
Interested in exploring the area a bit? We are only 15 minutes away from Shipshewana Indiana, where you can get to know some of our Amish neighbors. Check out the Shipshewana flea market, enjoy some authentic homestyle Amish cooking, an afternoon carriage ride, or a show at the Blue Gate Theatre.
