New hotel with spacious rooms, but for the price you pay it lacks refinement. Another client's clothes were left in my room for this reason alone. The housekeeping team is not up to the Hilton brand. At reception, Mr. Marcio was professional and friendly and tried to help us with everything during our stay. This hotel needs more staff like him, whether in the restaurant or the rooftop bar. It wasn't a very pleasant experience, given the price we paid.

Expect some frustration with this place. Hotel has been open for several months now, and still experiencing multiple issues. The hotel may look nice but the staff needs more training in hospitality as stated by another individual. The pros: clean room/bathrooms, modern looks and ascetically pleasing hotel design. The included breakfast is amazing with a made to order omelette bar, plenty of pasties, meat, vegan options, fruit, and yogurts. The inside pool is artistic and clean. The location is great if you have a rental car with plenty of free parking options. If you do not have a car, you will need to take a taxi as walking is not safe. The cons: The rudest Hilton staff I’ve encountered so far in my traveling journeys. The outside pool has been closed for 4 days now due to “staff parties, birthday parties, and excuses” the staff has not been helpful with ensuring that the outside pool will be open for guests anytime soon. There are 4 lounges chairs(nothing else to sit on) for the indoor pool, which is very odd given the space capacity. The “hot tub” is not actually hot(same temp as the pool), and the jets automatically turn off after 120 seconds of use. Again, very strange The shower door, as mentioned by others, has a serious design flaw that promotes flooding of bathroom. @Hilton, please fix this before you develop mold issues. If you are a platinum member, they do not honer the per diem benefit of platinum members. The pool(when you are allowed to use it) is open from 11am-8pm. No exceptions Overall, a Hilton experience that does not live up to the Hilton name experience expected. Not sure if I would return.

As the Hotel is quite new, the rooms and all facilities have been modern and clean. Our room was clean, spacious and very quiet at night. They serve a very good breakfast with local products and have a small terrace to eat outside. They have an indoor and outdoor pool. Unfortunately the indoor pool and wellness area were closed, which they told us during check in. The outdoor pool is located on the rooftop with a nice bar und Restaurant, but was opened after breakfast and closed at 7pm. So you have a nice rooftop bar, serving food and you close it at 7pm? One thing bothered us the most: Service at the pool bar was extremely lazy and incompetent. We waited so long for drinks and to be served, staff barely spoke to us and rather liked to chat with each other. How can be service in the morning at breakfast so different, compared to the pool bar in the same Hotel? As for the location I have to mention, that a rental car is a necessity there. There is plenty of free parking around the hotel. Unfortunately this leads to the fact, that this Hotel has no nice views.

A very nice, brand new, hotel well located for travelling across the island with a rental car. Rooms are comfortable and modern. All have comfortable furnished balconies. The rooms either face due east (sunrise) or due west (sunset). Most have good views. We stayed in room 341 on the southern end of the hotel with an east facing view of the mountains, which I think is the best view available here. The rooftop pool is pleasant, if a little chilly. There are approximately 22 sunbeds, which isn’t a lot for a hotel of this size, but to be fair we never failed to get a pair during our August visit. The indoor pool was closed for maintenance for the entire duration of our 7 nights stay, which seems peculiar for a hotel that is only a few weeks old. One bugbear is that the pool doesn’t open until 10:30. We like to swim before breakfast so found this a significant and inexplicable inconvenience. Breakfast is very nice, but not exceptional. Eggs are cooked to order and OJ is freshly squeezed, however unfortunately coffees are from a machine. Staff in all areas of the hotel were very friendly and English was very widely spoken. As for the location, it’s worth noting that there are very few amenities in Lagoa, and almost no attractions. We found two passable restaurants within 15 minutes walking distance (Alma Latina and O Alambique), but no shops of interest. A rental car is an absolute necessity here. There is abundant free parking on the road outside the hotel. The location is, however, fantastic for accessing the main east/west motorway that runs across the island, the EN1. Given that Lagoa is centrally situated on the island, nowhere is more than a maximum of one hour drive away. Finally a note for Hilton Honours members. I have Gold and was offered free breakfast for two as expected, plus a small upgrade from a standard room to a standard room with a sea and mountain view, which was appreciated. I was disappointed that our request for a 2 hour late check out was met with a ’not possible’, however we were offered 30 minutes extension, which doesn’t really make much difference. It felt like the hotel could have pushed themselves a little harder to reward loyalty here. When we left the room bang on 12:30 the housekeeper was nowhere to be seen.

Obviously customer service and critical thinking is not common place at this hotel. My worst experience at a hotel to Date. Upon arrival the receptionists were unpleasant and insisted their rules were two ppl per room (we had no idea because my husband booked the hotel on the Hilton app) and forced us to get another room (the day of check in). We spent the final days of our holiday with my husband and 6 year one son in a different room plus approx $1000 for a tiny additional double bed room because they charged us the same day fees. The hotel may look nice but the staff needs more training in hospitality. Suggest you avoid if you are traveling with small children.

An outstanding stay. The hotel has absolutely everything that you need. A great location with amazing facilities. The bedrooms are a great size. The hotel is spotlessly clean. One of the best hotels I have stayed in! I would highly recommend!

Newest and best Hilton out there ! We stay at Hiltons across the globe and this one just opened in Sao Miguel. It’s got free parking, a beautiful roof top pool with ocean views (not shown on website so that was a lovely surprise!) a gorgeous indoor spa area with sauna and steam Turkish bath, and it’s quiet! We slept like rocks on perfect bedding and sound proof windows. The website listing does not do it justice. This is no doubletree you’d find in USA. This place has a gorgeous aesthetic inside and the rooms are big and comfortable and super clean. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. Maria at the front desk was so lovely, the restaurant manager was very informative, and every human I’ve encountered has been 5 star interactions. I would stay here again. It’s convenient to the best spots in Sao Miguel with nothing being more than a 40 min drive away. It’s smack in the middle. This trip alone we stayed in Lisbon and Athens at 5 star hotels and this place rivals it. High end amenities and a delicious breakfast. If you’re Hilton gold it’s free breakfast. It says “continental “ but this isn’t stale bread and a sketchy waffle machine. There’s a chef making omelets and freshly made everything. Juices , fruit, full salad and yogurt stations- the works. Like I said- the website is not showcasing how special this place is. Ignore the outside industrial park look and book it!
