La Junta Camping & Cabins

"We stayed one night in the caboose and loved it. They have done a great job finishing out the interior. It was just the two of us, but the unit has a king bed and bunk beds, so could easily sleep 4. It has a free standing air conditioner which worked great. The area is very spacious and they have thought out to have lots of outlets and USB ports. There is a small area with a darling fridge, microwave and Keurig. They supply some plates, coffee cups, glasses and silverware along with a toaster. There is a very large sink which serves as both the kitchen and bathroom sink. There is a very large artificial flower vase that I would get rid of as it takes up valuable counter space. The place is decorated cute enough - you don't need the flowers. There are swinging doors that lead to the bathroom which is quite spacious with a very nice shower. The caboose is extremely comfortable inside. The wifi worked very well, but we weren't smart enough to figure out the TV which is a Roku system I think, and we aren't familiar with it. I'm sure it is great, we just had user error. There is a fairly large patio area on the side of the caboose which we didn't use because it was quite hot out. The front office staff was very friendly. We walked around the grounds and the pool is very nice with a slide for the kids and a play area. There is a 9 hole mini golf, but it needs a bit of TLC. The area that most of the RV's were parked is nice and has two areas that you could grill and sit out at. We would return to the place if the caboose or the small cabin next door was available (we don't have an RV). Brad has done a great job and we look forward to seeing what he does with the Amtrak car!"
