Hotel Gottwald

We spent here a night during our multi-station trip. We booked this place as a 4 star one, but it is really on the very low end of it. The place is located outside Tata, in a green forest. It has good parking space, there is an indoor and outdoor swimming pool for the hotel tourists and for outsiders too. At the time we got there, they were in staff shortage, they gave us the room but the check in and out procedure took a very long time. Room size is ok, spacious, but absolutely need a refurbishment. Furniture is pretty old - the cover of it was stained - , small TV, empty mini bar - Breakfast was definitely not a 4 star one, maybe an average 3, the a-la carte dinner was ok, i can say this was the only 4 star product of the place.

First off, there is no air conditioning. The wait staff is a big problem. They were very rude (especially the morning man in charge- he is truly awful and disrespectful). The evening staff waiter didn’t care that it took a half hour to get my drink, and rolled his eyes when I asked for a second. If you’re looking for a wait staff that’s aimed to please it’s customers, skip the restaurant- and the bar. The bar is vacant. You know who was the sweetest? Housekeeping. Those ladies were so friendly, and we left them a very generous tip for their kindness. The rooms are shabby at best. Don’t expect great comfort, or appreciation for the great decor. I would call it “The post Communist look”, nothing modern or intentionally sparse. or rustic. The room was a little depressing. There is a wonderful lake nearby, and The Gottwald will rent you 2 subpar bikes for $15€. The owner/manager was very nice. We called him “The Gottfather” just for giggles. My advise is, there are much better options in the area. This is my 10th time to Tata (my husband is Hungarian and has family there, but we are American.) Keep searching, because there’s are better places to stay. We won’t be coming back next year. Mainly, because of the horrible waitstaff who made us feel bad for wanting to eat there. Truly unforgivable.

Buon hotel, camere semplici, comode. Bel centro benessere con una piscina grande e un piccolo giardino per l’estate. Ottimo il ristorante, servizio attento e curato, ottima qualità dei cibi, buona presentazione. Wi-Fi ok, colazione buona. Servizio e gentilezza di tutto il personale.
