Coconut Grove Villas

First thing to note is that there are no signs for the place at all, the taxi drops you off at Saengsuree Villas, a guy who only speaks Thai, calls reception and hands you his phone. You leave bags with him and walk down to a beach restaurant where they check you in. A bit odd but it was OK. Rooms good but beach isn't great and not very much round the place. We ate in the restaurant the first night and were both violently ill 2 hours later (we both ate the same thing, prawns). I am sure that was a one off and we were just unlucky though as I have seen no other mentions of any similar problems. Lots of steps to beach and up to rooms so you need to be reasonably active.

The villa we stayed in was beautiful with a 10/10 view. All the amenities we needed were there and we were given a nice welcome cocktail! Coconut grove were also really helpful with getting us to the villas and then to our next stop after that. The food at the restaurant attached was also great, with lovely staff there. Would recommend a visit.

Perfect villa overlooking the pool with amazing sea views. Excellent spot to relax for a few days. Staff were super helpful and great little restaurant on the sea front. Pool was perfect place to relax for the afternoon. Will definitely return!

Liked · On arrival the villa looked absolutely amazing, big comfy bed, large TV, great bathroom and a balcony with an incredible view. The pool itself was amazing too, such a great view and lots of seats in the pool to sit and appreciate it. The food was tasty, although a bit expensive. But justified for the beach front restuarant. When staff were seen they were really friendly and welcoming. Disliked · This place is baffling, it seems unfinished and like the budget has been blown on the wrong things and nothing has been thought out properly... The kitchen for example, has a top range large fridge, a beautifully set dining table with plates, cutlery etc, implying an element of self-catering... But then the oven, hob and microwave in the kitchen don't work, and there's no pots or pans to actually cook anything with... Not an issue because the restuarants were great, but just weird... An amazing balcony with two chairs to sit on, but no table or anything to put drinks on, yet multiple expensive looking art pieces around the villa. There were so many plug sockets around the villa, but in weird places like 3 foot off the floor where there's no furniture. To turn a light on in the bathroom means going round out of the bedroom and into the kitchen, and the bathroom mirror still had bits of cardboard on the corners which shows just how brand new but also unfinished the place is. The pool itself was incredible, but the decking around it had been patched up with untreated chipboard sheets, which I guess must be a temporary repair? The bar by the pool is clearly not finished and not up and running. Loads of staff in the restuarant, but none to be seen anywhere else in the resort. A different couple had some drinks by the pool at lunchtime, and the next morning the empties were still there, shows that no staff are really present. There is no reception, a greet by a member of staff who then is contactable only by WhatsApp. Sadly the general lack of attention to any detail ruins the luxury feel, which is a shame because it was so close to being exceptional!
