Blackwaters River Lodge, Knysna

What a fantastic relaxing weekend. We enjoyed walking, canoeing and just sitting on picnic blankets by the river sipping champagne. We also had a lovely couples massage. All the staff were attentive, friendly and always available if you needed anything. We will definitely be back

My wife and I stayed for 5 nights here and everything was very enjoyable, very kind hosts and staff, including at the restaurant. On top of that, we were offered a free upgrade. Above all, the location is fantastic, in plain nature by the Goukama river and very close to the astonishing Buffels Bay beach. Highly recommended!

Up front I must state that we have eaten at very many restaurants all over the world. 17 countries to be precise. This restaurant's food is the worst we have both ever eaten in our life. The worst restaurant in the world before this was a Mexican restaurant in Alaska. We came to this restaurant for lunch on the 11th November 2024. We were the only people there. I ordered an Eisbein and my wife ordered King prawns. There were six tiny prawns on the plate, ON TOP of the salad which was wilted and a mess. The prawns were overcooked but were not fresh. I could even smell them across the table. My Eisbein was rock hard, so I could not penetrate it. I eventually stabbed at it with a steak knife but the inside was so overcooked and dry that it was INEDIBLE . Also they had put the Eisbein ON TOP of my salad. The worst Eisbein on planet earth. We of course should have just walked out but we had a wonderful waitress, Cynthia, and we did not want to hurt her feelings. In hindsight we should have given her a handful of cash and left, but we sat there with our drinks which were good. I wanted the world to see this review but this restaurant is not registered on Hello Peter. To each and everyone out there, be warned. CLIFF NORMAN

We greatly enjoyed our mid-week stay at this cozy retreat whilst taking part in the Mid-Winter Trail Run in Knysna - great accommodation, in tranquil surroundings, friendly service, great company and dito conversations at the outdoors fireplace, whilst snacking on fresh pizza prepared in the wood fired oven and sipping sherry. We'll be back for more. Thank you Elmay and team.

This was a special birthday gift to my wife and it was everything I could’ve asked for and more!!!!!

We stayed over a few nights for a golf tour. What fantastic hosts. Bonnita really went beyond our expectations and all the staff were really accommodating. Rooms were well equipped and the lodge was so inviting. I would highly recommend to anyone.
