Does what it says on the tin, the Hotel Hermes is a great base for anyone looking for a beach holiday that isn’t going to break the bank! Closely located to tavernas, shops and the local beach you have everything you need on your doorstep! Pros - *Great Pool *Good Breakfast - buffet with continental and hot options *Stephania was fantastic - recommended an incredible winery tour and informed us of the bus service and how to get there! (Thanks again Stephania!!) Cons- *Very small bathroom and tiny bath with shower over it - difficult to shower it was so small *Rooms/decor/windows/balcony could do with a freshening up *We had a room at the front and noise from the street was very loud, it felt like the windows were open at times - loud traffic/motorbikes from very early disturbed sleep on several occasions *Rooms are only cleaned every 3 days, would be nice to have fresh sheets, towels and bins replaced more often Overall, Hermes is a good place for those who need a base to sleep and shower when exploring the local area/having a beach holiday and the nice breakfast is a bonus!

We stayed here as a couple in June for 5nights. The pool area, public areas and gardens are immaculate! We stayed in room : apartment 51 which was at the top of 4 steep flights of stairs (not good if you’ve got mobility issues!!) We were slightly disappointed when we entered there was a strong musty smell, although the walls had been painted, the kitchen area was tired, with scrapes and small chunks missing on the worktops. It looked grubby and shabby. There was also no kettle which meant we ended up having to buy one at the local supermarket!! When I mentioned this to the lady on reception, she said that they don’t leave them in the rooms, you have to go ask her as they don’t leave them in the rooms. I’ve never heard of that before !!! And it certainly didn’t cross my mind to ask at reception when it was an apartment with equipped kitchenette that we’d booked. Rare to have a hot shower and the bathroom was shocking. The bath was rusty, stained and made me not want to step into it. We were told that the rooms / apartments were undergoing renovations and we assumed they hadn’t visited 51 as yet. It also lacked patio furniture out the front. That would have been a nice touch. Views were absolutely stunning over the town, harbour and sea from Upstairs. The bar and pool are owned by/ run separately from the hotel and the food / drinks were lovely. Pool immaculately clean and maintained. Overall, a relaxing short stay (if you overlook the tiredness of our apartment)

Das Hotel wurde erst neu renoviert und sieht dementsprechend neu, schick und modern aus. Die Zimmer sind großzügig und die Betten sehr bequem. Einziges Manko ist, dass man pro Aufenthalt lediglich 2 Kaffeekapseln gratis erhält. Natürlich gibt es noch Kaffee in den Bars, aber da sollte man vielleicht lieber ganz oder gar nicht machen mit der Kaffeemaschine auf dem Zimmer. Die Poolanlage ist wirklich schön groß gestaltet. Es gibt einen flacheren Bereich für kleine Kinder und ein Ruhebereich für Erwachsene. Dieser könnte nur ein wenig besser ausgeschildert sein, damit die Ruhe wirklich eingehalten wird. Der Strand besteht aus Kies. Als wir im Juni dort waren, gab es auch relativ hohe Wellen, weshalb das Schwimmen teils nicht möglich war. Wer Strandliebhaber ist, ist hier wahrscheinlich nicht richtig. Aber es gibt viele schöne Plätze am Pool. Das Essen war meistens sehr lecker. Oft dauert der Einlass ins Hauptrestaurant ein wenig. Hier müsste man ein wenig an der Schnelligkeit arbeiten. Zudem hat das Restaurant noch 3 a la Carte Restaurants. Beim Asiatischen Restaurant hatten wir leider einen schlechten Tag erwischt und können das Essen gar nicht empfehlen. Umso besser war die Pizza und die Mettbällchen im italienischen Restaurant mittags und das Pita im Souvlucky. Die Lage ist hervorragend für Ausflüge. Wir haben uns unkompliziert und für einen fairen Preis für 4 Tage einen Mietwagen im Hotel gemietet. Innerhalb kürzester Zeit ist man mit dem Auto in Chania oder Rethymnon. Außerdem ist der wunderschöne Strand von Elafonissi innerhalb von einer Stunde erreichbar. Darauf achten sollte man das Fahrten nach BALOS nicht erlaubt sind. Besonders hervorheben möchte ich aber den Service. Jeder Mitarbeiter grüßt und lächelt, wenn man Hilfe braucht, kriegt man sie sofort. Wir haben uns super willkommen gefühlt und immer das Gefühl, dass jeder ein offenes Ohr hatte. Auch der Umgang mit Beschwerden war einwandfrei. Insbesondere der Guest Relation Manager Thanos hat eine super Leistung gebracht und uns gefühlt jeden Wunsch von den Lippen abgelesen. Danke hierfür nochmal. Besonders bedanken wollen wir uns auch bei Debby von der Pool Hauptbar für die zahlreichen schnellen Drinks und den tollen Service! Macht weiter so!
