The Southgate B&B

I visited whilst on holiday a few weeks ago,I had an average bar meal at restaurant prices. Although it is a great location and friendly people it is over priced for what it is. Hopefully the new management will do better and review these issues.

Nice B & B situated on the main street of Hunmanby despite this it was very quiet and we slept well.Our bedroom was very large with a double bed and sofa.There Very nice breakfast with cooked breakfast served at the table. It was a little cold but weather unusually bad for time of year Chris and Julie were very good hosts

The hosts Chris and Julie couldn't do enough for you. The dining room, bedroom, bathroom were very clean and pleasantly decorated. The breakfasts - full english or cereal toast were very tasty We will certainly stay there again. B and B Sheffield

Everything was excellent from arrival, to departure. Chris and Julie have got been good hosts, off to a tee. They are attentive, without been overbearing, always busy ensuring their guests are been given 5 star service. The room and the rest of the B&B,were as good as the pictures show, and the I would recommend the Southgate B&B to any one and hope to be back soon

Chris and Julie are probably the friendliest hosts we've come across. The breakfast was first class and freshly cooked to order. Huge teapot readily refilled. The room was spotless and although not huge, perfectly adequate for a few nights. Hunmanby is a lovely village and the station offers the opportunity to leave the car and travel into Scarborogh, Filey and Bridlington. The only reason I can't in conscience award maximum marks is the toilet in the otherwise adequate bathroom. While the bathroom is compact, the toilet is situated so that you have to sit sideways, unless you are very short. (I'm almopst six foot,m but the wife is 5' 5" (although not petite). The room number was 3 and this probably doesn't apply to other rooms. The sponge bed will suit some people more than a sprung mattress, but these seem to be spreading in accomodation. Would we stay again, yes, but not in room 3 if possible.

A warm welcome and a very organised B and B. Room was extremely clean, comfortable, lots of extras including fan, dvd player, extension tower. Great idea having books, dvds and an honesty bar. Breakfast was slightly regimented, having to order what we wanted, preferably at breakfast the previous day and only a one hour window for breakfast. Check in window was small.
