Metaxatos Apartments

Just returned from a weeks holiday here. It couldnt have been better. Our granddaughters Loved it, especially the pool, they swam and played everyday. Our room had a balcony and amazing sea views looking over to Lixouri. The sunsets were fab. The beds were clean and comfortable. Air conditioning worked a treat. The pool bar was fine (Im not a drinker!!) but suited my son and husband well especially the Mythos!! Snacks were available and any takeaways phoned for by Paul. Christina and Paul are great hosts, nothing was too much trouble. Katie makes the best frappe coffees and all staff were friendly. All in all a great holiday. We hired a car and did a bit of sightseeing round the Island, also saw the turtles in Argostoli, which the girls loved. Thank you all.

We had a lovely week here, all of the team are really welcoming and friendly. Yes there are a lot of returning guests but we found everyone to be super friendly, plus there is no better sign of a great place than people who return year after year! The apartments are typical Greece, but they had everything we needed, the bed was very comfortable & we had better sleep than we get at home! Air con was great too. We loved the terrace we had and the view was incredible. Overall this is a great value place to stay, great location & lovely staff. If you want to spend treble the amount & have luxury then look at some of the faceless hotels with no character.

First thing I will say is the staff and customers are very friendly and helpful and all of our party felt the same. The only thing i feel lets the apartments down is the accommodation. I have visited Greece several times over the years and I am fully aware of the sometimes basic accommodations that can be found. The pictures do not match the rooms. The rooms are very tired and need a lot of TLC. Don't get me wrong they have all you need but that is about it and the cleaning is not the best. There are lots of broken bits of furniture and garden eqpt just left around and an area for broken bits was not hidden from view. The pool has a dirty water mark around the steps which is visible. There are mismatched bits of this and that and rusty furniture dotted around and the TVs and pictures in the rooms have not been hung staright. That said you get what you pay for and the holiday wasn't overly expensive. Not a bad location near to Lassi ***** and the beaches walkable. It is so frustrating as the place is so friendly and people return year after year however this could be so.much more with just some time, effort and attention to detail. If you are wanting somewhere cheap and cheerful and nothing more then this is the place for you.

Loved our stay here ! The hotel is located in a great location within a 10 minute walking distance to the main area of Argostoli. The hotel has a great pool with an amazing view, 5 minute walk to the beach. Also, the staff is so sweet here, and have 2 beautiful dogs, and cats who are sometimes on the property. Thank you for an amazing stay!

Just home from spending a wonderful 10 days, loved every minute, so relaxing, beautiful setting, close to lots of bars and restaurants, our fave restaurants were Zorbas, Ionia, mels fab for breakfast, great friendly place Paul, Christina and Katie were all so helpful, friendly, cocktails and food amazing at the bar, cleaning staff were so smiley and lovely, met some lovely people, missing Suzie the kitten and truffle the dog xx

This property is the most beautiful place i have stayed throught my entire 2 months travelling. The views are stunning, the rooms face the mountains and you can watch the sunset from your bed or verandah! Getting in contact with the venue before arriving was extremely difficult but upon arrival checkin was easy and i was promptly shown my beautiful clean room! The shower pressure was awful but other than that no problems with ammenities. A clothes line was provided too with pegs for your swimmers and the pool area has pool side chairs where you can enjoy the sun AND see the ocean. Location wise there are many great restaurants in a walkable distance, i also easily walked to and from argostoli harbour within 15 minutes each way, however its very hilly. The only negative is the beaches right in front of the apartment. A few are difficult to reach (crocodile) and some were just cliffs. The beach with sun lounges was more dirt and rocks, there is no bathroom at the bar there and ants were crawling all over me. I recommend makris gialos beach which was a 30 minute walk but super worth it! Overall i am so happy i chose metaxatos apartments and i will definitely be back some day

Another amazing two weeks, spent in the very relaxed apartment complex that is Metaxatos. When arriving you are made very welcome by the owners Christina or Paul who have drinks on hand with a big smile. The views are to die for, over looking Kalamia Beach and Luxouri. Many people return to the complex year on year, because you are made to feel like family, my holiday was super relaxed, spent with some very good people. The beautiful bar is hosted through the day by Katie working alone, who could not do enough for us or any of the other guests, making the bar and lunch experience very good. Food is prepared freshly when ordered and the drinks are prepared quickly, nothing is too much trouble and Katie is always smiling and welcoming. I have been coming to Kefalonia for over 15 years with my daughter, family and friends and i tend to choose Metaxatos because the location is safe, close to the beach, outstanding restaurants in Lassi and a 10 min walk to Argostoli which can be busy in the evening. You are never pestered at Metaxatos, you can have your holiday as relaxed or as busy are you want. We went on a couple of boat trips, hired a car but always enjoyed coming back for a glass of ice cold wine before showering to go out in the evening. If you need a night in then Paul is at hand with some takeaway menus for you to order from. The complex is very safe for children with a very good pool and a large variety of inflatables that other guests have left for others to use. The rooms are cleaned daily, with beds and towels changed every couple of days. Christina is on hand most days to help you book excursions and will happily help you with any requirements you have. Nothing is too much trouble. If you select this complex you would never be disappointment. People are friendly, enjoying their holiday and I met some lovely people on my stay.

Never have I felt so uncomfortable and awkward while on holiday. The owners and bar staff quite frankly treat you like an inconvenience unless you are one of their returning guests. The whole place is unbelievable clicky. On arriving you feel like you’re entering someone’s private party without an invitation! The returning guests sit round the bar like they are entitled vips..judging your every move! Not the relaxing welcoming atmosphere you would expect on holiday. We experienced bad attitude from the bar staff..when trying to order food it felt like we were a burden on them! On one occasion we were questioned over a bill tab that they had down as needing settling.. we explained we had paid the evening before but this followed with an interrogation from the bar lady.. questioned us multiple times on who we had paid and when..felt like we were being attacked even though we had proof we had paid! During this disagreement over the bill the clicky returning guests decided to pipe up to fight their corner even though it’s absolutely none of their business! After this particular altercation we noticed the bar women speaking with the ground staff who whistled at us in a threatening manor..quite frankly I felt unsafe with my one year old in my arms! If it wasn’t our last evening we would have left and found another hotel..we felt so unsafe and unwelcome!! We came with our one year old and on looking at the place online we were particular interested in the child’s play area, from the pictures this looks lovely however don’t be fooled…the toys are dirty and broken!! The toy boxes were broken with sharp tubberware corners being very hazardous to a one year old! Also no slide like in the picture! Again they have a football area which could be great for children however it’s not been maintained so it’s not suitable. The apartments were tired and in need of renovations..consisting of stained bedsheets and mouldy shower curtains. Also don’t expect a hot shower..at most you’ll get a Luke warm one! Pillows and beds were hard and uncomfortable. The noise from the pool bar karaoke and busy road out the front made sleeping very difficult! Finally if you like wine..this is not the place for you…the only wine available quite frankly looks like engine fuel from your grandads shed!! Overall I think the owners are quite short sighted..their only concern being their regular holidaymakers..but ultimately there will be a time they no longer return!! To anyone looking to holiday here..don’t be FOOLED..AVOID!!

Amazing friendly staff and people nothing was ever to much. Any negative reviews i on here are really sad As you can not wish for me from staff Away with group on 50plus year olds mostly couples and children who were amazingly we behaved. ………,.😉……….
