Nachdem wir unseren letzten (Haupt-)Urlaub im Februar/März 2022 auf Sansibar verbracht hatten (damals im Kiwengwa Beach Resort, im Park Hyatt Zanzibar und im Gold Zanzibar Beach House & Spa Zanzibar), waren wir uns sicher: Wir kommen zurück! Und fast genau ein Jahr später sollte es auch genau so kommen. Um möglichst viele weitere Teile von Sansibar (und vor allem die verschiedenen Strände) entdecken zu können, hatten wir uns dieses Mal für insgesamt fünf verschiedene Hotels entschieden. Unsere Reiseroute sah wie folgt aus: - 4 Nächte im Michamvi Sunset Bay in Michamvi - 4 Nächte im Sea Cliff Resort & Spa in Mangapwani - 4 Nächte im Baladin in Pingwe - 1 Nacht im Le Mersenne in Pingwe - 4 Nächte im Baladin in Pingwe - 3 Nächte im Kiwengwa Beach Resort in Kiwengwa Einen kompletten Bericht über unsere Reise (mit vielen weiteren Bildern!) findet Ihr übrigens auf unserer Seite unter .../Reisen/Karibu-tena-Zanzibar. Dort ist u. a. auch ein Bericht über unsere Reise nach Sansibar im Februar/März 2022 Jahr zu finden. Hier waren wir sogar auf Safari auf dem Festland (.../Reisen/Karibu-Zanzibar). Nun aber (endlich! :-)) zu unserem Bericht über das Le Mersenne Zanzibar: Da wir (ursprünglich) nur nach einer „Notlösung“ zur Überbrückung einer Nacht gesucht hatten (wir wollten eigentlich für 8 Nächte in Folge ins Baladin, dies war allerdings leider nicht möglich und deshalb hatten wir das Baladin für 2x 4 Nächte mit einer Unterbrechung von nur einer Nacht gebucht), fiel die Wahl aus den folgenden zwei Gründen auf das Le Mersenne: 1. Ist das Le Mersenne nur ca. 2 km vom Baladin entfernt und 2. war das Hotel über Marriott-Bonvoy mit Punkten buchbar und hat uns deshalb quasi „nichts“ gekostet, da wir aus vorangegangenen Urlauben noch ausreichend Punkte hatten. Weil wir unser Hauptgepäck im Baladin unterstellen konnten, ging es also nur mit unseren Trolleys für eine Nacht nach „nebenan“ ins Le Mersenne. Und ähnlich wie im Michamvi Sunset Bay (hier durften wir bereits um 10:00 Uhr morgens unser Zimmer beziehen, obwohl die reguläre Check-In-Zeit 15:00 Uhr ist) wurden wir auch im Le Mersenne wieder beschenkt: Wir hatten zwar nur die reine Übernachtung ohne Verpflegung gebucht, beim Einchecken wurden wir aber darüber aufgeklärt, dass Bonvoy Gold-Status-Gäste im Le Mersenne (während Ihres gesamten Aufenthalts!) das Frühstück gratis erhalten. Und das Frühstück im Le Mersenne ist wirklich grandios (s. Fotos)! Aber auch das Zimmer, der großartige Pool (inkl. Chill-Out-Musik) und vor allem der ausgezeichnete Service haben uns recht schnell davon überzeugt, dass das Le Mersenne viel mehr ist, als nur eine „Notlösung“. Deshalb steht für uns ganz klar fest: Beim nächsten Sansibar-Urlaub werden wir nochmal wiederkommen und zwar für mehr, als nur eine Nacht. Wir sagen Asante sana an das Team vom Le Mersenne (insbesondere auch für den tollen Empfang mit Musik) und vergeben 5 Sterne für das Le Mersenne.

Wir haben den unglaublichsten Aufenthalt in dieser Unterkunft verbracht! Von dem Moment an, als wir ankamen, waren alle Mitarbeiter so herzlich, freundlich und hilfsbereit. Der Geschäftsführer war vor Ort anwesend und ging sehr interaktiv mit den Gästen um. Er nahm sich die Zeit, uns während des Abendessens zu begrüßen und unsere Fragen zum Check-in zu beantworten. Das Essen war hervorragend! Besonders gut hat mir das Meeresfrüchte-Barbecue gefallen. Magreth hat sich am Pool wirklich um mich gekümmert. David hat sich ständig bei uns gemeldet, um sicherzustellen, dass es uns gut geht! Meghan war so süß und nett! Das Zimmer war sehr geräumig und hatte eine riesige Dusche! Die Klimaanlage funktionierte absolut, was unglaublich war, denn draußen war es schwül. Die Aussicht von unserem Zimmer war atemberaubend und wir saßen oft da und genossen den Ozean von unserem Balkon aus. Wir hatten sogar ein privates Tauchbecken. Es gab Abendunterhaltung und sie taten ihr Möglichstes, um unseren Aufenthalt so angenehm wie möglich zu gestalten, und Silvester war großartig. Danke an Michael und sein GESAMTES Team ❤️✌🏾

We had a fantastic stay at Le Mersenne. The location was exactly what we were looking for—peaceful and away from the hustle and bustle. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, always making sure our needs were met promptly. Our room was spacious and offered a beautiful view. The facility is east-facing, overlooking the Indian Ocean, which meant we enjoyed a refreshing sea breeze throughout our stay. It also gave us the chance to witness breathtaking sunrises and moonrises, especially since it was a full moon during our visit. The stunning Blue Lagoon was just a short boat ride away, as was the nearby sandbank. The Starfish area was a little further up, but the boat ride itself was an enjoyable experience. The only minor drawback was that a few maintenance improvements could enhance the venue’s overall quality. The complimentary boat trip and the paid snorkeling excursion were both excellent. Captain Haji went above and beyond to ensure we had an unforgettable experience. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would definitely consider visiting again!

The room quality was excellent - although it was a garden view room, the jacuzzi tub is a must try. Aircon was the best I have encountered, the design of the room was classic and the linen was very comfy and soothing to the skin. The chef Dominic made some world class fish with lemon butter sauce for dinner which was top notch and the breakfast was stumptious too! I must recommend the hotel to anyone who is coming to Znz. The welcome drums with the welcome drink upon arrival is something to record but unfortunately my phone was far away. At the end of the day it’s a Marriott Bonvoy!

Le Mersenne boasts a picturesque location with beautiful grounds, but unfortunately, several aspects fell short of five-star expectations. The biggest disappointment was the food—despite the high prices, very few dishes were well-prepared. The breakfast buffet was satisfactory but uninspiring. We ended up dining at other nearby restaurants, where the food was more plentiful, flavorful, and reasonably priced. The rooms were spacious but could benefit from better furniture arrangement. The washroom showed signs of wear, with some puzzling design choices—such as unusually high sink basins and an oddly tall toilet. While the staff was friendly, the overall management and service did not meet the expected standard. Sadly, based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend staying at Le Mersenne. This hotel does not provide a true five-star experience, and Marriott Bonvoy members should be aware that it does not meet the standards of other luxury properties worldwide.

Great place to just relax and reflect. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Our server, Juma was awesome and Maddy really took care of us. Front desk was great. Food was out of this world. The only thing is, there is no beach access. The spa was incredible.

If you're looking for a hotel that provides seclusion in a location well placed for small excursions, then look no further. The welcome and hospitality at this resort are second to none. Thank you, Megan, Majid, Micheal, Pascal, Olivio, Ezikial, Maddy, Paulina, Captain Haiji, Ali, and pretty much most of the staff at this wonderful resort. They all contributed to making our stay a memorable one. (Hope I spelt everyone's names correctly)

We had a fabulous time! Spacious rooms, great hospitality and friendly staff. The Pure Spa at the hotel is heavenly! We had a great VIP signature package Abu and Sam who run the spa are such generous hosts! The Pure Spa is must try when you visit Le Mersenne Zanzibar.

We had a great time at this beautiful property. Everyone was very friendly and excited to engage with us; the food was delicious and the atmosphere was very vibrant. The location is spectacular, peaceful and it feels very cozy. Peter, Tessy and Emmanuel at the bar were quick to help us and took a great care of us. June, Vanessa, Kezia & Megan at the front desk were so pleasant and welcoming. Israel and Alt( and his wife in security) - bellman, also Tonny & Raymond at the pool and Asia were great. Olivo, Solomoni and Juma at the restaurant; Chef Dominic Gomez made sure we knew all about the local dishes and the locally sourced ingredients of all the dishes on the menu. Juma was such a pleasure to have spent time with. He made our dining experience truly memorable!

I would NEVER recommend that anyone visit this hotel. We took a private villa, but below was the outcome: 1. I specifically requested room decorations for my wife's birthday, and this was utterly ignored, ruining what should have been a special occasion and surprise. 2. There is no consistent hot water in the room. It works for only 5 minutes before shutting off completely. 3. The bathtub is faulty and cannot retain water, making it completely unusable. 4. The TV in the room is non-functional, with every channel or option displaying "service unavailable." 5. The entire room had a cockroach infestation. After the room was sprayed with insecticide, the floor and bed were filled with dead cockroaches and various other bugs. 6. Water all around the hotel is just well/salt water, they cannot even afford a water purifier. 7. The private pool was very dirty and showed a significant lack of maintenance. With broken parts, and visible dirt, the pool was also unusable. I have videos and pictures if need be.

I have found my Shangri La in this beautiful Hotel. From the moment I stepped out from the car into Hotel to the departing one week later I had enjoyed my stay tremendously. Incredibly friendly staff, wonderful spacious Villa, gourmet breakfast. What else one can seek? The hotel is far away from tourist spots, located on a hillside overlooking beautiful gardens and tourquoise ocean. The hotel provides daily free trips with a boat to a sandbank about 15 minutes ride in the middle of pristine waters of the Indian Ocean. There are two good restaurants in the hotel, one with nightly show. But if you want to explore nearby eating spots, the Hotel provides with round trip transportation. I promised myself that shall be back at Le Mersenne
