Bahia Vik

We arrived and the people were very nice to us. However, the rooms were not good. Our balcony could not open and they were also no amenities. The service was was good but the breakfast selection was mediocre. It was very expensive and if you want to go to town, you have to take their transfer, which is also very expensive. I felt we were limited in things to do and transportation.

We had planned for almost a year to come to Bahia Vik in Jose Ignacio to celebrate my mother-in-law's 80th Birthday. Our stay more than exceeded our expectations. It is a gorgeous setting, with a large dining room/lounge with huge windows that look out on the ocean. Each room is named for the artist whose work decorates that room, which makes the experience feel intimate and unique and not a standardized hotel experience. The hotel is small, and the staff made all 9 of us feel. We were cared for individually, recognizing us whenever we walked by the front desk and continually checking on us, giving advice, or helping us with plans. A couple of employees went above and beyond to help us. Zahira worked tirelessly to ensure we had dinner reservations, activities, and tours. When I had a concern about not being able to get into a crowded yoga class, she made sure to check into the situation and follow up with me so that I was able to enjoy myself. Most importantly, however, Lucia was the hero of our trip. We had a challenging situation involving one of our young adult children who got lost in another town, and she stayed up all night with us, translating Spanish and advising us on how to proceed. She stayed working hours after she needed to and displayed such incredible concern, consideration, and care that we felt we were in excellent hands. We can't wait to return to this beautiful country with lovely people, delicious food, wine, and an exceptional setting.

Staff here dealt with the aftermath of the fire at the next door La Susanah extremely well and we had a last minute move for one night at Estancia Vik which we enjoyed and were kept informed all the time. On our return to Bahia Vik we were given a wonderful bungalow room upgrade which we loved, with super comfy bed and woke every morning to the sound of the sea. Staff offer to set up sun beds and umbrellas on the beach but we loved laying by the pools the most with a cool breeze. Pancakes at breakfast delicious with excellent coffee and croissants too. Only a 24 minute walk to La Huella where we dined on the beach both at lunch and dinner but staff also secured us bookings at other restaurants ( loved the romantic juana cocina especially ) and both dropped us off and picked us up after dinner. Great hotel choice for José ignacio with a slick team. A phone/ walk-in talkie in the room of some kind could be helpful to communicate with reception and good for emergencies and a blue tooth speaker would be our only suggestions to further enhance a fabulous stay.

The hotel is a nice architectural modern and contemporary structure , seafront located with an exceptionally nice view . The rooms are located in units of three rooms aligned buildings some between the dunes , steps away from the shore with nice view . It is a very romantic place to be with beautiful view . The rooms however are furnished with furnitures of modern design resembling a bit some hotels cartoons style not really convenient or useful . Our room , and also the room next door (occupied by other guests had a strong smell of humidity quite unpleasant and at time during the day strong sewers smell really unpleasant for an hotel 5 stars ! We and also the other guests made the staff notice it and they just ignored our complain . The staff of the hotel is limited and although gentle , appeared to be of professional level doing the minimum to pay attention to the costumer . We had to get the luggage’s in by our self at the check out of the room . In the room there is not phone to call the concierge , and no television either . Minimum bar drinks . The bathroom is well equipped, but the shower has no glass perimeter , which resulted in wetting the entire place every shower . Not pleasant . The staff at the restaurant is not professional we had to chase several time the waiter for the table needs. We had not the feeling to be in a 5 stars hotel resulting to be the most expensive of the area , and we will not return .

The location is fantastic right on the beach, staff absolutely lovely, and one can walk “into town” on the beach in 10-15 minutes. If you can, do visit their other 2 properties Playa Vik, right in town, and Estancia Vik a few miles inland. Stunning architecture in all 3 places, intimate feeling, very special properties.

The hotel and facilities were very good. The room was especially comfortable, we had an ocean view suite. But most important we’re the staff. I found these young people to be incredibly willing to do whatever was necessary to ensure a positive customer experience. We had a false positive test, the staff was there in the ready to make our stay comfortable and safe. I can’t rave enough about the staff.
