The Anchorage B and B

The Anchorage would have 6 stars if I was able to award that . It is quite simply the BEST B&B I have ever stayed at. A beautiful location, just outside John O'Groats with breathtaking views of the Orkney islands, a lovely clean and spacious building, bedroom was fantastic - spacious and comfortable. Use of the upstairs lounge with tv and fridge was such a bonus delight. But what makes The Anchorage special is Gail's warmth, friendliness, attention to detail and willingness to do anything to help. We truly felt like the most valued guests ever !

Wow! Wow! Wow! My friend and I were so reluctant to leave this amazing place…. And Gail ! It was perfect in every way! Gail had exceptional standards from cleanliness, decor and breakfast!! All the little things, like sweets and chocolates, goodies in the fridge, a drink on arrival .. just made it all so idyllic!! Breakfast was out of this world!! Super comfy bed. Super EVERYTHING!! Views all around!! We even sort the light house in action , just slight glimpses came through the edge of the blinds, but it never kept us awake, my friend only noticed on a loo trip 😂 so we watched it out of the window for a while!! Gail is an incredible host!! If only we had more Gail’s in the world!! Nothing too much trouble! She felt like friend !! Can’t recommend highly enough. !! We will be back!!

We have been to lots of B&Bs over the years but this was the best. Gail is perfect hostess and the room fantastic. Great bed huge room and large en suite immaculately clean. We had full use of the upstairs lounge and could relax with ease and comfort. Felt immediately at home. Breakfast fantastic both in quality and quantity and being honest didn’t want to leave. Views breathtaking. If you are anywhere near here please stop off and enjoy

Gail and Dave gave us a warm and friendly welcome on our arrival at their lovely B&B, situated in a lovely spot overlooking both land and sea. Our ensuite room was cosy and warm. We had a lovely nights sleep on our two night stay, one after our great day on the ferry to Orkney. Breakfast was plentiful with a good choice of food. If we get up that way again, we will definitely be booking with you.

Fabulous b&b! Gail & Dave were amazing hosts, the rooms are perfect! Plenty of parking, incredible views, such comfortable beds. Gail was so friendly & could not do enough for us. Just a few minutes drive away from Duncansby Stacks. Incredible breakfasts! Vegan no problem 💜

Gail was very helpful before we arrived with help about local places to eat, during our stay she could not do enough to help us even offering to drive us to local restaurant and pick us up, Gail had told us they had done a refurbishment but to witness the standard of accommodation was breathtaking, it is a fabulous b&b and we cannot rate it high enough. If i could give it more stars I would, we will be back and we would make our dates fit with availability of the fabulous b&b. As well as the outstanding facilities the food was out of this world,

Awesome! There were 4 of us taking up the 2 bedrooms available.Gail and Dave could not be more welcoming. This is THE place to stay at John O’Groats. Location, location, location…superb views. There are two rooms available upstairs and included is a luxurious lounge/dining areas. Lovely beds and bathrooms, delicious breakfast. Sweeties in the bedroom… so many great, thoughtful little touches. Nothing is too much for superwoman Gail. We loved it!

When I arrived I received a warm friendly greeting from Gail and the accommodation is truly luxurious in fact 5 star with several options for breakfast. I chose the full Scottish breakfast and that kept me going all day. If you are visiting the John O Groats area this is a must stay accommodation.
