Dhora Desert Resort, Signature Collection by Eight Continents

The tents were rustic but beautiful and comfortable. The beds were excellent and our tent had an outdoor shower (open at the top, closed on the sides), which was the highlight. The swimming pool looked loved (we did not used it as it was very hot in the day and fairly cool in the evening). They have a tent for massages. However, the massages left a lot to be desired - for the price they were charging I would have expected better quality. The biggest disappointment was the food. All to rich and spicy and almost no variety - it was not catering at all to Western tourists or those locals who prefer lighter food. While the kitchen was flexible in listening to our demands to reduce spice and oil, the bottom line is that they need to up their game on the food they serve.

Wonderful small tented desert camp set in sand dunes. The camel ride was a great way to walk through the dunes and to see wildlife and the sunset. Evening entertainment with local musicians was quite superb as was the village jeep ride with Shiba who was so informative and excellent driver taking us to local farms and his family home where we experienced an opium ceremony. Sun downers on the dunes was a lovely experience too although that evening was marred by a local wedding with a sleep shattering base speaker until 6 am. Luckily the camp was almost empty during our stay so there was room by the small pool which only had four Sun loungers and limited space. The only other disappointment was the massage which was run independently by a quite hopeless girl who charged very expensive rates for a shockingly inept massage that left me smelling like a chip pan!
