It was bad right from check in as we did not get the rooms we requested. We had requested two inter-connecting rooms. Upon checking in were told the interconnecting rooms for us were one room with a king size bed and one with two single beds, this was not an option. We had to settle for two separate rooms which were the old un-refurbished rooms. The a/c was difficult to switch on and off as the button was temperamental. To everything the staff seemed unsure, just stare at you and fall silent, then did that head shaking thing. It was hard to see who was in charge on any given day. The next morning when I looked out of the window to see the view from my five star hotel, I was shocked to see the wasteland of what is behind the neighbouring properties. There was rubbish everywhere, abandoned buildings and a *** urinating up against a wall. On some nights rubbish was burnt there. It was a disgusting sight to see everyday of my stay there. I just do not know how they think they can get away with calling this a 5 star hotel. This booking was just money down the drain. I had booked my wife and myself for the one room as a double occupancy, however, she was not booked on. We only found out about this when she was being charged for her breakfast. So I had to pay there and then. I do not know if this is human error or the booking app, but my God what an inconvenience. Her stay here was dreadful. The laundry of her clothes was very bad, two of her Indian suits were ruined and her night pyjamas were returned to us burnt when ironed perhaps. No mention was made of this when the clothes were returned to us, no explanation, no apology. She was so upset by this that she refused to send any more clothes to be washed. The towels were not always replaced and laundry was not always collected, despite both things being requested in person. On one occasion I was charged for laundry which was their own pillowcases and had get a refund. They really could not tell this was the dirty pillowcase they had left behind and I contacted reception to tell them about this? There is no communication between the staff and different departments. On a number of occasions we saw other guests arguing at reception or with the managing staff about the hotel facilities or their stay in general. We were not alone in our gripes. Children were disturbing us playing in the corridors night and day. Had to inform whoever was on duty to round them up. There are a number of banqueting rooms were events are on day and night. This added to the busy atmosphere. A wedding party one night ensured our sleep was disturbed. Restaurant staff was very nice Restaurant was always lacking in something or another: cutlery, teacups, napkins, a well set out place on a table. They actively steered you away from ordering from the menu, wanting you to have the pre-arranged buffet instead.
