We recently came back from a wonderful stay at Suryagarh. The hotel is located a few kilometers outside Jaisalmer and is about a 30 min car ride from the airport. The hotel itself is fabulous. The architecture, the open spaces, the fantastic central courtyard where they serve breakfast, the ducks and peacocks roaming around the grounds of the hotel, the hotel lit up with candles and lanterns in the evening all made up for an amazing experience. They have a variety of rooms including suites and havelis. Our room was very comfortable and equipped with all the modern gadgets needed for a comfortable stay. One thing that I found unique and was much appreciated was that everyday we found some local Rajasthani savories left for us to enjoy in our room. While hotels generally tend to leave fruit platters or cookies in the room, here we had the opportunity to experience local Rajasthan delicacies. We had meals in both the restaurants, Nosh and Legend Marwar and the food was excellent. But more than the food it was the warm and helpful engagement with the staff members which made the meals more enjoyable. A special word of appreciation for Simran, who took care of us during both the meals. Apart from helpful suggestions and explaining the various courses in the thali, she was wonderful to talk to and we thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with her. In the evening, Suryagarh organizes a short cultural program which was excellent and most importantly of the right duration. The grounds of the hotel is enormous and spreads out on both sides of the parking lot and I would strongly encourage all visitors to take a full tour of the property. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. Overall one of the best hotel stays ever for us, one which we will always remember.
