The Rushes

Had a fabulous stay! Walking trails were in great shape and well maintained. Unit had been upgraded fairly recently. Entire resort appeared to be in good condition. Friendly staff. And to top it off, we had great weather. Looking forward to our next stay at The Rushes.

We love the Rushes and have stayed before. The lake is so nice and all the activities on the water are awesome. The staff are friendly and accommodating. There are fans in all the bedrooms in the unit we stayed in however, these units do not have Air-Conditioning. Most August nights this is not an issue but this year it was hot hot hot. Between the wildfire smoke plus the humidity sleeping was uncomfortable. Nothing the Rushes could have done just something to consider.

I have only visited in the winter and I always enjoy my time at the Rushes! For The Rushes is friendly staff, skiing outside the door, hot tub, pool, pool table and more! It has it all! The fireplace for cozy nights, full kitchen for stay in meals! I truly enjoy the grounds and Kangaroo Lake. And if you need a puzzle or a game, they have those too! My in-laws love the Craft Room and the staff there!

We just started renting at The Rushes in 2023 and have been back 6 times since then! We have only stayed during the quieter months of spring and winter. The units are so clean and comfortable. We really enjoy the well-equipped kitchen, upstairs bedroom with a comfy king size bed and a large bathroom. Each unit is similar in decor, which I love (I do bring a couple of battery operated candles to add to the cozy😊). The wood burning fireplace is what initially drew us here, what a way to spend a cozy weekend! We love the location, a bit away from it all but still close to everything. And two great places to eat and have a cocktail within a 5 minute drive. The pool area has a hot tub and sauna, in the same building as the office, with a locker room/shower for changing and a pool table. The property is beautiful with hiking/skiing trails and it’s on beautiful Kangaroo Lake. We love that we have our own garage and even a good stack of dry firewood! I feel sad every time I leave and can’t wait to come back!

The setting on Kangaroo Lake in Door County is great. Our unit was adequate--with dated, tired furnishings and appliances. Beds had seen better years. Checkout timing and procedures were inconvenient for the guest. Other than the setting which was quiet and wooded with a lake view, I question the Gold Crown rating.

It is always a good time at the Rushesno matter the season. In the Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall there is always sometings to da at the Rushes. Our unit was very clean and well appointed. We invited another couple to spend a couple of days with us and they were very impressed with the unit, pool, sauna, and hot tub. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. Looking forward to 2 more stays this year.
