Skerrols House

Spent 3 wonderful nights at Skerrols House. The rooms are spacious, updated and very clean. The location is away from the hussle but not too far away - it was conveniently located for all the day trips . Thomas and team are so friendly! I'll be back.

Stayed for one night on island tour. Room was fabulous with large comfy bed and simple but elegant furnishings and a nice bathroom. Plenty of lounge areas and other books and crannies to read or socialise. Breakfast was superb with plenty of choice. Hosts (Thomas) was super friendly and very helpful - made us feel very welcome indeed.

Our 3 night stay in in April 2023 at Skerrols House was a delight. The location in the middle of the countryside, the cleanliness of the place, the very delicious breakfast, the elegant and careful decoration of our room and of the living room is remarkable, but the welcome, the availability and the good mood of Thomas are exceptional, and we want to thank him very warmly. We had the perfect stay at Skerrol's House on Islay, which was the highlight of our trip to Scotland. The house is set in an unbelievably beautiful setting and the rooms were large, clean and comfortable. Best of all, the host Thomas was exceedingly welcoming, friendly, and helpful. We were made to feel at home and to be honest this was as comfortable as being at home. The breakfast was fantastic and appreciate the packed lunch when we were unable to make lunch. All and all, it was a fantastic stay, and easily in the top 5 of all hotel/B&B experiences that this well-traveled couple have ever had. Couldn't recommend highly enough! Only regret is that we couldn't have stayed longer!

From the moment we arrived Thomas made us feel at home! It was the perfect location for us to explore the amazing Island. Our room was clean, comfortable and beautiful. No detail is overlooked, including a drying room for our wet boots after our Island adventures. Food was delicious. We hope to be back some day!

What a great place to stay. Rooms comfortable and beautifully furnished. Comfy bed. Thomas was a fab host, nothing was too much. Big tasty breakfast with excellent fresh smoothies. Last but not not least the weather was so kind to us and we saw Islay in its glory.

We spent a few days in Islay using Skerrols as a base. Thomas and his wife were amazing hosts with nothing being too much trouble for them. The rooms and public's areas are spotlessly clean and very comfortable. With the house being off the main road, the area is quiet leading to very good night's sleep. In the morning, breakfast is between 7:30 and 9:00 with a huge selection of cold meats, cheeses and fresh fruit. Cooked breakfasts are amazing, again, if you want something different from the menu, that's not an issue. On returning in the evening, a comfortable sitting room, supplied with mixers, allows you to perhaps sample some purchases from the Islay distilleries. We would definitely recommend Skerrols House to anyone, but with hesitation! If too many people find out about this place, the bookings may be full when we go back. Me and my girlfriend stayed one night here after getting the ferry to Port Askgaig. Thomas was immediately welcoming despite us arriving well after 10pm on our bikes. The room was great, incredible comfy big bed and a great shower. We were even treated to a room upgrade and rosé and whisky. Breakfast was excellent. I had a full Scottish with lots of coffee and croissants and my girlfriend had eggs and salmon on a muffin. 10/10 service.
