Hotel Solemare Beach & Beauty Spa

All the 5 star reviews must be fake. This hotel is so gross and not worth the cost. It hasn’t been updated in probably 35 years and is a run down motel tier accommodation. Not to mention the staff gave another guest our room key and a man walked in on my wife showering thinking that this was his room. Stay somewhere else and save yourself the headache.

Hotel Solemar is situated along the chain of family beach clubs of Ischia Porto's waterside, in a relatively quiet neighborhood 3-5 minutes walk from the promenade of shops and restaurants that thrive every summer evening. We had a single room facing a tranquil garden lane, and a double room with a large balcony overlooking the beach. Both rooms were spacious enough to accomodate luggage. Wifi in the single was slow, but the oceanview double had flawless wifi; both rooms had excellent cable with many channels, mostly in Italian, of course. The breakfast was better than most hotels, and the daytime front desk staff and housekeeping ladies exerted themselves to be helpful. PROS: -Location! 10 minute walk to ferry/boat docks, 20 minute walk to Castel Aragonese -Pool, beach clubs ($), big seaside balconies available ($) -Breakfast buffet; lobby bar; friendly, helpful staff -Excellent individual air conditioners CONS: -Smaller size showers in some rooms (e.g., tight fits for "super-sized" North Americas) -Rust and wear-and-tear appropriate to a moderate priced, beachfront family hotel

We enjoyed our stay for 6 nights at the end of September. The Solemar is about 10-15 mins walk from the harbour/Port and tucked down a quiet side street just off the main shopping area with bars and restaurants. Antonella on Reception was excellent at answering all my queries in advance of our stay and also arranged a transfer for our arrival from Naples Airport, by taxi and Hydrofoil, and then taxi onto the Solemar which was great as we had a very early flight that morning and knew we would be tired. We had a seaview room with a balcony overlooking the pool towards the beach. We were very comfortable, the beds were fine, cleaned and towels changed daily, and there was plenty of storage space in the room. Breakfasts were perfect for us with plenty of choice - fruit, yoghurt, juices, coffee, salami, cheese, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, breads, huge choice of cakes and Prosecco aswell! It certainly set us up for the day. We walked to Aragonese Castle for an afternoon which was interesting and another day we took the local bus from the bus station to Sant'Angelo for the day - you were lucky if you got a seat - otherwise you stand for the whole journey! From The Solemar, there were plenty of restaurants to choose from nearby and down at the Harbour, and all along the beach below are the beach cafes which are great for lunch. Tre Stelle was just below The Solemar where we had dinner one evening. We enjoyed the thermal pool but not the main pool as it was a bit cold late September and we had lunch by the pool on the day we arrived. We had no complaints as it was exactly what we expected from the photos on Tripadvisor we had seen in advance. Maybe the bath mats need to be replaced though as they were pretty worn out. Yes, The Solemar has an old fashioned Italian style but we enjoyed it all the same. And, finally, special thanks to Antonella who put up with my attempts speaking Italian to her when she was busy. One final tip - don't miss the top floor terrace with lots of loungers and a jacuzzi.

First time to Ischia and spent 8 nights at the Solemar and would definitely recommend this hotel . Well positioned on a beautiful beach and easy access to port and local transport . Hotel was very clean indeed with regular towel change and beach towels available . Staff were really helpful indeed assisting with any questions particular mention to Francesco who met our room request which was perfect and arranged return transfer . Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and hope to be back........ booking name ..Speirs

We were very happy with our stay. The hotel has an excellent location on the beach and within walking distance of the port and shops and restaurants. The hotel was clean and bright. Rooms were on the smaller side with a safe and a/c. The pool is small and you are required to wear a cap if you plan on dunking your head underwater. There is a small bar/cafe which is opened till the evening. The breakfast was excellent with an excellent selection of pastries, cereals, fruit, etc.

We had an amazing time: the hotel is on the beach. Staff is very kind, food is delicious. Rooms were a little small, but we spent all the time in the swimming pool and in the jacuzzi on the roof top.
