Hotel Solemare Beach & Beauty Spa

Hotel Solemar is situated along the chain of family beach clubs of Ischia Porto's waterside, in a relatively quiet neighborhood 3-5 minutes walk from the promenade of shops and restaurants that thrive every summer evening. We had a single room facing a tranquil garden lane, and a double room with a large balcony overlooking the beach. Both rooms were spacious enough to accomodate luggage. Wifi in the single was slow, but the oceanview double had flawless wifi; both rooms had excellent cable with many channels, mostly in Italian, of course. The breakfast was better than most hotels, and the daytime front desk staff and housekeeping ladies exerted themselves to be helpful. PROS: -Location! 10 minute walk to ferry/boat docks, 20 minute walk to Castel Aragonese -Pool, beach clubs ($), big seaside balconies available ($) -Breakfast buffet; lobby bar; friendly, helpful staff -Excellent individual air conditioners CONS: -Smaller size showers in some rooms (e.g., tight fits for "super-sized" North Americas) -Rust and wear-and-tear appropriate to a moderate priced, beachfront family hotel

First time to Ischia and spent one week at Solemar Beach&Beauty Spa and we would recommend this hotel. Well located on the beach. The hotel staff were pleasant.Breakfast was always good. The hotel was clean indeed with regular towel change.

We enjoyed our stay for 6 nights at the end of September. The Solemar is about 10-15 mins walk from the harbour/Port and tucked down a quiet side street just off the main shopping area with bars and restaurants. Antonella on Reception was excellent at answering all my queries in advance of our stay and also arranged a transfer for our arrival from Naples Airport, by taxi and Hydrofoil, and then taxi onto the Solemar which was great as we had a very early flight that morning and knew we would be tired. We had a seaview room with a balcony overlooking the pool towards the beach. We were very comfortable, the beds were fine, cleaned and towels changed daily, and there was plenty of storage space in the room. Breakfasts were perfect for us with plenty of choice - fruit, yoghurt, juices, coffee, salami, cheese, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, breads, huge choice of cakes and Prosecco aswell! It certainly set us up for the day. We walked to Aragonese Castle for an afternoon which was interesting and another day we took the local bus from the bus station to Sant'Angelo for the day - you were lucky if you got a seat - otherwise you stand for the whole journey! From The Solemar, there were plenty of restaurants to choose from nearby and down at the Harbour, and all along the beach below are the beach cafes which are great for lunch. Tre Stelle was just below The Solemar where we had dinner one evening. We enjoyed the thermal pool but not the main pool as it was a bit cold late September and we had lunch by the pool on the day we arrived. We had no complaints as it was exactly what we expected from the photos on Tripadvisor we had seen in advance. Maybe the bath mats need to be replaced though as they were pretty worn out. Yes, The Solemar has an old fashioned Italian style but we enjoyed it all the same. And, finally, special thanks to Antonella who put up with my attempts speaking Italian to her when she was busy. One final tip - don't miss the top floor terrace with lots of loungers and a jacuzzi.

First time to Ischia and spent 8 nights at the Solemar and would definitely recommend this hotel . Well positioned on a beautiful beach and easy access to port and local transport . Hotel was very clean indeed with regular towel change and beach towels available . Staff were really helpful indeed assisting with any questions particular mention to Francesco who met our room request which was perfect and arranged return transfer . Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and hope to be back........ booking name ..Speirs

Avoid this hotel! Certainly not a 4 star, 2 at a push. The door to my bathroom and balcony is broken, the wiring/electrics are unsafe in the room, the bed is like sleeping on a rock, my wardrobe doors are falling off. Forget about using the spar unless you want to be charged extra and on a time limit OR made to wear stupid looking shower caps in the swimming pool! (red/white or blue/white for your fashion choice). On top of this the staff at reception are rude and unhelpful. If you like the colour green than you will be happy here... everything seems to be a 1960's mint green colour. Which is fitting as I don't think the decor has been updated since it opened in 1965. Awful stay - Avoid at all costs!

We were very happy with our stay. The hotel has an excellent location on the beach and within walking distance of the port and shops and restaurants. The hotel was clean and bright. Rooms were on the smaller side with a safe and a/c. The pool is small and you are required to wear a cap if you plan on dunking your head underwater. There is a small bar/cafe which is opened till the evening. The breakfast was excellent with an excellent selection of pastries, cereals, fruit, etc.

We had an amazing time: the hotel is on the beach. Staff is very kind, food is delicious. Rooms were a little small, but we spent all the time in the swimming pool and in the jacuzzi on the roof top.

Siamo stati in famiglia qui questa estate. Devo dire che la posizione e’ ottima, molto centrale. Si può usufruire sia della piscina, e addirittura in caso di mal tempo ( ne hanno anche una coperta), di fronte c’e il mare per gli amanti della spiaggia ed e’ tutto concentrato. Ambiente pulito e sistemato. Un plauso lo meritano sia le ragazze della reception molto accoglienti e sempre col sorriso. Per quanto riguarda il food, a pranzo c’è possibilità di ordinare alla carta mentre a cena non fanno servizio, ed e’ stato un peccato perché la cucinato ci ha sbalorditi, tutto cucinato ad hoc. Dalle zingare, ai primi, a finire al coniglio all’ischitana. Gentilissimi anche Michele ed Antonio i ragazzi di sala! Ci tornerò sicuramente e lo consiglierò!
