A return to this Ischia hotel after 18 years. It has changed in some ways - less atmospheric perhaps and a tad less friendly - but it retains the wonderful location, the sea vistas from the terrace where meals are served alongside a summer bar with a nightly piano singer and the well appointed rooms. Our sea facing balcony was nicely shaded during the very hot afternoons so well worth the upgrade. Room was comfortable with walk in shower. We were given a nice complimentary Prosecco bottle and fruit on arrival, but water is not free in the room (€5 a bottle) which doesn’t feel right in a 5* hotel; nor does the woefully intermittent Wi-Fi reception. The spa was good, with excellent massages. Breakfasts were decent buffets, but again a tad surprisingly, omelettes attract a €15 surcharge. We had a nice dinner on the terrace our first night, but enjoyed some of the excellent local restaurants other nights. Overall a nice hotel, but it could benefit from a more generous attitude to its guests in the small things.

Welch ein tolles Hotel. Perfekte Lage und wunderschönes Personal. Wir gingen jeden Tag buchstäblich aus unserem Hotel und so viel war am Türsteg. Die Betten waren komfortabel, wir beide schliefen wirklich gut. Das Badezimmer war großartig mit einer riesigen Dusche. Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit Blick auf den Hafen mit einem schönen Balkon, obwohl es zu heiß war, am Nachmittag aufzusitzen, so dass wir auf den oberen Dachpool gehen würden, der erhitzt wurde und eine schöne blaue Farbe und nicht grün, wie in einigen anderen Artikeln erwähnt. Die Mitarbeiter am Pool waren am hilfreisten und lieferten uns wenige Snacks und Gin und Toniken Galore, wann immer wir sie beantragten. Es gibt viele Sonnenbetten auf den Dachterrassen, so dass keine Notwendigkeit, zu beschleunigen, um einen Platz zu reservieren, da es Raum für alle gibt. Das Frühstück wurde von 7.30am bis 10.30am serviert und war Kuchen, Gewürze, Obst, Käse, Hammer und Eier Kaffee, Saft usw. Alle frisch und wunderschön. Kann nicht genug empfehlen und würde definitiv zurückkommen.

Having just arrived back from a fabulous week I wanted to leave my honest review about this budget hotel. This is not a 5* resort nor does it pretend to be. It's an excellent family run budget hotel and I'd recommend and would love to return. We spent 5 nights in hectic Naples followed by 7 nights relaxing in Ischia at the hotel internazionale. First impressions: Having traveled by ferry then taxi we arrived tired and hungry and was met by Fillipo at the desk. He explained where our rooms were and what time food was. As no lunch was available he very kindly helped us order pizza which we were allowed to eat around the pool at the table. The hotel is in a lovely building I think probably built in the 50's with an eccentric mix of modern and vintage furniture and art throughout. Location: Located up in the hills the location is absolutely beautiful and very scenic/relaxing. Lots of gorgeous plants in the well kept garden. The hotel is very close to the bus stop approx a 2 min walk to 'nik' bar where you can buy tickets for the bus. No 6 takes you to the port where you can for buses anywhere or no 10 to the beach. There is a very small shop opposite the bus stop selling balls/ floats. A great supermarket is located another 5 min down the road (the food supermarket is down the stairs) My mother has limited mobility but found the roads absolutely accessible and could make the shops. Rooms Large rooms with comfortable beds , fantastic quality sheets and excellent shower. We paid extra for the air con as we needed it in the heat wave. Unfortunately there was no fridge or kettle which I would have liked. I would quite happily pay for an 'upgraded room' to have these facilities, rather than charge more for everyone to have them. No lifts in this hotel , however my mother found the first floor easy accessible. Pool Fantastic pool not heavily chlorinated we loved swimming in the healing pool. Always found somewhere to sit as plenty of longers available as it's a small hotel and no rush to get there in the morning. Food We stayed half board - Breakfast was delicious freshly cooked croissants with chocolate spread / jams. Fresh fruit and cake. Also self serve tea and coffee. Dinner felt like eating at a freinds family dinner table. Although not quite restaurant quality (or restaurant priced )it was freshly cooked and healthy. 2 courses followed by fresh fruit or the occasional cake. The food felt authentic Italian and for the price we enjoyed it and definitely helped keep the cost of the holiday down. Would I recommend : absolutely YES!

My husband and I took a weekend trip from Naples to Ischia and at the last minute changed from a hotel in Fioro to Hotel Villa Durrueli at the last minute as we wanted to be in a nice walkable area that was closer to the port (for ease of catching the ferry) as well as services, restaurants, and we wanted to stay in a place that had a thermal bath in the hotel. Many of the thermal baths are closed during the latter part of November so having a thermal bath to enjoy in the hotel was important to us. The room is small, but delightful with a balcony that offered seating for 2. The decor is in keeping with the island: renovated, clean in the Mediterranian Style and offered a minibar that felt very reasonable and a desk area with complimentary coffee and tea. The service here is exemplary from the front desk to the spa to the breakfast. It has service that goes beyond a 5 star hotel that is warm and friendly while still very professional. Sara, the breakfast manager goes above and beyond to ensure every guest has an amazing start to the day. The service, the location, and the amenities made us feel so grateful we chose Hotel Villa Durrueli.
