Built around 1910, you'll go back in time when you step foot in this newly restored Dogtrot Cottage. Sitting on top of the hill in Downtown Shirley, this is one of the few dogtrots still standing in Arkansas. It feels just like Grandma's old place! The house was originally designed with open-ended passage that runs through the center of a house, flanked by two enclosed living spaces. The living room has been restored to how it would have looked in the early 1900's. Each room in the house is themed for a different decade. The kitchen was originally in a separate building apart from the house. But when the owners added plumbing around the middle of last century, a bathroom, kitchen, and laundry room were added to the original house. The home sits on 1 acre of land with plenty of room for parking cars, ATVs, boats, etc. You'll get views of the Ozark Mountains from almost every window. Two screened in porches and a large covered front porch makes it ideal for outdoor enjoyment.The big bedroom has a king bed and couch (w/ TV), the smaller room has two twin beds. We do have a blow up mattress for anyone needing an extra place to sleep.The house may be old, but modern amenities abound in this unique rental.
