Locally owned, maintained and occupied by an Island family of several generations, Breakwater (Formerly Black Dog Watch) is a large apartment in a newer duplex on an elevated property across the harbor, offering wonderful views of Southwest Harbor, Manset shore, and the Cranberry Isles. Park your cars on the property and walk 5 minutes to all that Southwest Harbor has to offer by being right on Main St. The pier is directly across the street along with 2 restaurants within throwing distance. The house offers WiFi, cable, Roku, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime and Disney + for evenings and rainy days. Breakwater can sleep 8-10 people with 2 king sized rooms, 2 rooms with a set of twins, and an optional futon and couch. The 680 sq. ft. deck also overlooks the ocean with deck furniture, picnic table, and new Weber gas grill for enjoying warm summer evenings. We are avid animal lovers and welcome well behaved and well mannered pets after discussing your pets with us ahead of time. We reserve the right to deny pets if necessary. We lost Maggie, or orginal Black Dog in '23, but our new little black girl Lucy lives next door with us now. If you can't bring your pets and want a visit, I'm sure Lucy can schedule some time into her busy schedule for you to throw the ball for her. We also have a little "bobcat" named Lily that likes to perform acrobatics on various hand rails across the property.The Island offers a free bus service through the Island Explorer that has pick up locations just walking distance from the house. Explore all our Island has to offer without touching your car for your entire trip.There are also several paddle board, kayak, canoe, bike, and scooter rental shops for you to enjoy the Island even better. Welcome to The Warren! Overlooking Norwood Cove and the Causeway club, The Warren is easily within walking distance of downtown Southwest Harbor and nearly across the street from the Charlotte Rhodes butterfly garden. This charming, vintage, and fully equipped house is available to rent for the first time ever! I have been vacationing here with friends and family since 2009 and very recently purchased the house from an old friend. My son and I still use it to this day and it remains my favorite place on earth! Elegant, relaxed, and everything thats lovely about being Downeast. A large, fairly secluded deck and backyard is perfect for entertaining, grilling, enjoying the fire pit, or playing croquet! Bar Harbor and all that means is only a 15 minute as are nearly every portion of Acadia National Park. I am happy to provide ample recommendations for both. Hiking, kayaking, canoeing, boat tours, dining, LOBSTER, and plain old relaxation all around! Located in Southwest Harbor known as the quiet side of mount desert island, minutes from downtown shops and restaurants.The property is set back off main street and next to the golf course! less than a 2 minute drive to echo lake which has its own beach with lifeguards and much warmer water than the ocean, water reaches 75 degrees in the summer very nice for a relaxing swim or just relax the day away with a book. But if you prefer the ocean we are minutes from that as well, we have sand beach that is in the Acadia National Park. Its is also close to the stop for the free island explorer shuttle bus that serves the entire island. Southwest harbor is 15 minutes drive from bar harbor and minutes from Acadia National Park, hiking, biking, kayaking, whale watching and all of nearby attractions.Property overview: the rental has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom - both bedrooms have queen beds and a roll out bed on request.
