Enjoy amazing views on Harris Brake Lake where kayaking, canoeing and fishing are fantastic for the whole family. My kids love the 70 foot zipline & tree swing. Sit in the deck chairs around the fire pit at sunset and listen to the great horned owls hooting on the lake's island. 5 kayaks, a canoe and fishing poles provided. Board games, card games and puzzles galore. 2 bedrooms sleep 6 easily with a queen bed and 4 twin bunk beds. Close to Petit Jean, Mt. Nebo, Pinnacle Mountain State ParkThe spaceThe house will easily sleep 6 in the 5 beds. With 5 kayaks and a canoe provided, it is an outdoorsy family dream. We have an 9 and an 12 year old, so we work hard to make this space kid friendly. The tree swing, zip line, fishing poles, kayaks, canoe, board and card games are all efforts to encourage kids to get off electronics. We swim in the lake often and stock about a dozen life jackets, including child, youth, and adult sizes. The lake house is approximately 40 minutes from West Little Rock, 25 minutes from Pinnacle Mountain State Park, 25 minutes from Flatside Pinnacle Wilderness Area, 30 minutes from Petit Jean State Park and 50 minutes from Mt. Nebo State Park. Nearby hiking and mountain biking trails are spectacular.Guest accessThe brand new 5 person hot tub has been delivered and hooked up. The lake view from the hot tub is unrivaled.Other things to noteThree amazing state parks are really close by. Pinnacle Mountain State Park is halfway between the lake house and Little Rock, and the summit offers spectacular views. Petit Jean State Park is the fantastic. The view toward the east over the Arkansas River is splendid, and Mather Lodge Restaurant, overlooking the Petit Jean River Gorge, is a great respite between hiking the Cedar Falls water fall trail and the Rock House Cave trail, just past the Turtle Rocks. But my favorite is Mt. Nebo, where Sunrise Point and Sunset Point offer the best view in all of Arkansas. And the mountain biking is fun for amateurs and some trails are challenging for those who are experienced. This cozy lake house is a great family retreat with a dock and a boat house. We provide kayaks, a canoe, life jackets, fishing poles, tackle and gear. Enjoy ping pong. Pool table and 25 different board games and puzzles are available. There is a 55 foot zipline! Tether ball & tree swing! Sleeps up to 10 in 2 queen beds, 4 twin beds & a sleeper sofa. 40 minutes from West Little Rock and less than 30 minutes to Mt. Petit Jean State Park and Pinnacle Mountain State Park. Gas grill provided.The spaceThere are three bedrooms, a large kitchen with island, dining room, enormous living room, a game room with ping pong table and a garage with a pool table. The back porch has a spectacular view of the lake, the island and the mountains. The entire back yard is adjacent to the lake. The backyard has a picnic table and gas grill under the enormous shade trees. There is a fire pit in the backyard that is perfect for watching the sunset over the water.Guest accessThe host also owns a one bedroom cabin that is located next door, and it is also available on VRBO. The large backyard is shared between the two places. The backyard is not fenced off. Each house has its own dock and gas grill, but the fire pit, tree swing and 55 foot zip line are shared.Other things to notePlace for kids.This is our lake home. It is fully stocked. It isn't the bare minimums of some places. We have worked hard to make this the kind of place we want to spend time, and I admit that I'm a bit of kid at heart. So, I have put everything I can in here to make sure my 9 year old daughter and 12 year old son love coming to the lake, even on a rainy day. In fact, my son asked to have his birthday party at the lake and bring a string of friends.Birding.In addition, the lake has made us amateur birders. There are bald eagles that live on the lake. Kayaking out into the lake and watching a bald eagle scoop up a fish will make you into a birder too. We have seen great horned owls that live on the island. We watched a pair of osprey raise two babies this year in a nest just 4 feet off the water. White pelicans and double crested cormorants arrive in late October for the winter. To me it is magical to watch a pelican scoop up a shad and see the fish wriggle in the pelican's waddle; I promise it looks like the pelican smiles when you see this happen. Pileatead woodpeckers are common. Birding books and binoculars are provided in the house.Astronomy.The night sky over the lake, which is surrounded by the Ouachita National Forest is special. It is quite dark. My kids and I have sat on the dock and watched the international space station fly over head many times. Close to Petit Jean State Park and 40 minutes to west Little Rock.Other things to noteKids: We make a strong effort to make this a place kids love. The zipline, spanning two oak trees with a view of the lake, is a favorite; my kids will often spend an hour straight on the zipline. There are 25 or so board games and puzzles and Disney+. There are fishing poles and a hammock. But what most kids enjoy most is swimming and kayaking. There are 5 adult kayaks and three kids kayaks. We also provide about a dozen life jackets in child, youth, adult and extra large sizes.General area: Situated in the heart of the Ouachita National Forest, the lake house is close to several amazing state parks. Mount Petit Jean State Park, about 20 minutes away, is a favorite. It has water falls, gorgeous mountain top views, miles of trails, the Rock House Cave, pioneer cabin, and good grub at the restaurant at Mather Lodge.For those more adventurous, check out Flatside Pinnacle and Forked Mountain, a beautiful, pristine area. For as far as you can see from the mountain tops, no human built structures have ever been erected. The 0.2 mile hike to the Flatside Pinnacle mountain top from the parking spot is easy. And the view is priceless.Astronomy: come look at the Milky Way over the dark sky. Telescope and binoculars provided. Or, just sit on the deck and count the shooting stars.
