Das Hotel besuchte ich im Rahmen einer Rundreise. Es liegt nahe dem Lava-Center Islands direkt an einer befahrenen Strasse. Die Fenster halten leider die Fahrgeräusche nicht voll standing ab, so dass man auch nachts vereinzelte Fahrzeuge hört. In der Umgebung (ca. 5 Gehminuten) befindet sich ein Supermarkt, Tankstelle und Staatlicher Getränkeshop für alkoholische Getränke. Das Hotelpersonal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Hotelzimmer ist gross, dass Badezimmer ausreichend für eine Person. Das Hotelzimmer verfügt über zwei Klappbetten mit relativ weicher Matratze, einer Sitzgruppe, TV, Wasserkocher mit Teebeutel und Pulverkaffee. Einen Tresor findet man auf dem Zimmer keinen. Die Räume sind sauber und ordentlich. Leider kommen neben den Fahrgeräuschen vorbeifahrender Fahrzeuge auch die Lauf- und Gehgeräusche der Ober liegenden Räume hinzu; alles etwas hellhörig. Die Vorhänge eignen sich in den Sommermonaten dazu, nachts abzudunkeln. Das Abendessen (Halbpension während Rundreise) war von sehr guter Qualität und Quantität, Das Frühstück isländisch gut; der Kaffee relativ dünn (aber das ist Geschmacksache). Das Hotel verfügt über Aussen-Badetonnen, welche ab 17:00 Uhr bis 22:00 Uhr nutzbar sind. Parkplatzes sind direkt vor dem Hotel verfügbar. Für Rund- und Geschäftsreisen ist dieses Hotel ordentlich.

Wir reservierten einen Nachtaufenthalt im Brú Guesthouse, da es sich als eine neue Erfahrung während unseres Aufenthalts in Südiland ansah. Das Gästehaus besteht aus einer Reihe von voll ausgestatteten Ferienwohnungen aus jóðvegur 1 Nahe Hvolsvöllur. Wir wurden zuvor vollständige Anweisungen darüber erteilt, wie man das Haus bekommt und auch wie man den Schlüssel bekommt. Unsere Standard-Wohnung war von vernünftiger Größe, aber das bemerkenswerte Ding war das Raumspardesign, das bedeutete, dass es eine große Auswahl an Einrichtungen alle intelligent zugänglich war, ohne den Raum innerhalb der Wohnung zu beeinflussen. Der Boden zur Decke der Fenster erhielt unglaubliche Aussichten auf die schneevolle Landschaft und es gab eine schöne Terrasse, aber würde in den heißeren Monaten mehr geschätzt. Es gibt einige sehr interessante und völlig einzigartige Erfahrungen, die während des Besuchs Island und des Aufenthalts in Bru Cottages auf dieser Liste einzigartige Erfahrungen zu haben.

Wie dieses Hotel zu seinen guten Bewertungen kommt ist uns ein Rätsel!! Hier wird einmal mehr deutlich, dass Fotos und Realität oft nichts miteinander zu tun haben... Wir waren hier für eine Nacht im Rahmen unserer gebuchten Islandrundreise untergebracht und mehr als unzufrieden: Das Hotel, im Baustil eines renovierten Stalls, liegt mitten im Nirgendwo. Die offenbar nur vormittags und abends besetzte Rezeption bietet ”Self-Check-in” mit auf dem Tresen liegenden Anmeldeformularen und Zimmerschlüsseln. Der angrenzende Speisesaal bzw. Frühsücksraum ist spartanisch und einfachst ausgestattet, hat keinerlei Ambiente und gleicht bestenfalls einer Schulkantine oder der einer Jugendherberge. Die ebenfalls mit billigstem Mobiliar ausgestatteten Zimmer sind sehr klein. Zwei Koffer haben aufgeklappt nur auf dem Boden Platz, ein Schrank oder eine ausreichende Ablagemöglichkeit fehlt. Das Zimmer und auch das (kleine) Bad waren bei unserer Ankunft ungeheizt und es hat gedauert bis die vorhandene Elektroheizung nach Aktivierung eine akzeptable Raumtemperatur zustande brachte. Per E-Mail wurden wir bereits am Morgen über den Reiseveranstalter um Auswahl/ Vorbestellung des Abendessen-Menüs gebeten, falls wir im Hotel essen möchten. . Leider haben wir das Angebot angenommen (zum nächsten Restaurant muß man kilometerweit fahren) und wurden leider ebenfalls enttäuscht: Convenience-Food, mikrowellenerwärmt, in schlechter Qualität dafür sehr teuer. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt hier in keinster Weise! Das völlig unmotivierte Personal reagierte auf unsere Beschwerde das Essen betreffend völlig unbeeindruckt und sogar frech grinsend. Auch das Frühstücksbuffet ist dementsprechend unterdurchschnittlich und wenig einladend. Schade, dass man keine Minuspunkte vergeben kann - ein Punkt ist hier bereits zuviel!

I am writing to express my disappointment with my recent stay at your mountain cottage. As the most expensive accommodation of our week's holiday, I had high hopes and was eagerly anticipating a comfortable and enjoyable stay. However, I regret to inform you that the experience was anything but pleasant. Firstly, the cottage (no 8) was in a state of disrepair, with broken glass and a board of wood hastily hammered onto the front door. The interior was equally disappointing, with a dirty and dusty atmosphere that suggested that it had not been properly cleaned or maintained. The cottage smelt old and felt cramped, leaving us feeling uncomfortable and cramped during our stay. Additionally, the bath towel provided was the size of a hand towel, and there was no bathmat or hand towels left for us to use. These small amenities are essential for a comfortable stay and their absence made our experience even more unpleasant. The walls were dirty with dust and grime, light switches were dirty, stains and dirt on radiators. Chipped crockery. Old, torn and ripped blinds. No door on the bedroom. Overall, I must say that the cottage was not worth the £150 per night that we paid. It was far from the charming and cozy mountain retreat that we had envisioned. The only positive aspect of our stay was that the cottage was warm and had hot water. I understand that issues can arise, but I hope that you will take our feedback seriously and take steps to improve the quality of your accommodations. I also hope that you will take action to address the problems we encountered.
