Thermen Hotels in Provinz Huelva

Interesting reading some of the comments. First – Car Parking. With some preparation which you surely must do coming to a small town like Aracena we knew exactly where the car park was. A good SatNav (not Google Maps on a phone) and a quick glance at Google Earth before you start shows exactly where the car park is (at the rear). Admittedly we stopped at the front to ask them to let us in when we got around. We found any staff we came across very helpful (I forget the lady’s name on Reception). We have no quibbles about the food either for breakfast or in the restaurant. We saw very few people staying here on our one night. The room was comfortable with a good shower. Toiletries were good quality. The room we had was to the rear and overlooked the pool area and the hills beyond. The bed was comfortable and large. Everything was very clean. No complaints. I would note that this hotel is high up in the town so any visits require a little stamina and of course the Castle is even higher up (do very early). We stayed here to visit the Caves in the morning (10.30 descend) and the hotel allowed us to remain parked in the garage until we returned (they even opened the bar for us to get cold drinks on our return near 12 noon. The conversion from Convent to Hotel has allowed some interesting construction/opening up – eg the Reception/Bar/Lounge Area. Quite impressive.

An der Rezeption sehr nett empfangen, ging es nach der Anreise kurz aufs Zimmer und sofort zum Abend-Buffet: das Buffet war morgens wie abends sehr reichhaltig und abwechslungsreich - wer hier nicht satt wird, hat etwas am Magen oder keine Lust: es gibt morgens süss und herzhaft, Obst und Käse. Mit den Kaffeeautomaten allerdings standen die meisten User auf Kriegsfuß, weil es sich um Nespresso-Kapsel-Automaten handelte und die meisten versuchten, daraus einen großen Pott Kaffee zu machen. Das führte zu Chaos an den Automaten und zu reichlich Ausfällen. Allerdings ist das, wie gesagt, ein Problem des Anwenders.... Das Abendessen hatte von vegetarischen Angeboten über Fisch und Fleisch auch für den Nachtischesser immer eine Überraschung in süß und in Käse. Das Restaurant selbst war recht groß - deswegen sehr laut, weil viele Gruppen vor Ort waren. Das Zimmer (2. Stock nach vorn mit Blick auf den Golfclub) war sehr geräumig, sehr sauber, die Matratze schön fest und sehr bequem. Das Bad war ausreichend groß. Insgesamt war es sauber, gemütlich und ruhig. Spa hat das Hotel nicht, nur einen recht übersichtlichen Innenpool, für die Aussenanlagen war es noch zu kalt (deswegen nicht in Betrieb). Der Service war im Hotel, im Restaurant und im Golfclub sehr gut und sehr nett. Im Golfclub kamen die Damen allerdings kaum dem Andrang zu Mittag auf der Terrasse hinterher: wer also nach der Range und vor der Runde eine Kleinigkeit essen möchte, sollte mindestens eine gute Stunde einplanen! Der Golfplatz besteht auf einer 3x-9Loch-Anlage, die überaus gut gepflegt und auch nach einem durchregneten und sehr stürmischen Nachmittag subito wieder ”aufgeräumt und herausgeputzt” war. Die drei Plätze haben alle ihre Herausforderungen und sind sehr schön angelegt, sehr hügelig zu spielen und dementsprechend anstrengend auch bergauf und bergab zu laufen. Die Greens waren bei meinem Aufenthalt sehr schön moduliert und blitzschnell. Die Range ist recht groß und bietet für alle Bedürfnisse etwas . Das Hotel also ist mit der unmittelbaren Lage am Golfplatz ideal. Der Golfplatz liegt sehr schön mit Blick auf den Atlantik von einigen Löchern, ist herausfordernd und sehr schön zu spielen: wegen der reichlichen Wege bergan und bergab sollte jeder, der ein schwaches Knie hat, jedenfalls in ein Cart investieren!

Aracena is a lovely Andalucian town in the hills not far from Huelva which is famous for its caves, castle and scenic beauty. The Barcelo is a large, modernized hotel that overlooks the town and has a million dollar view that makes it a perfect place to stay in the area. The rooms are spacious with large balconies from which to enjoy the view. A very good breakfast buffet is included. It also has all the amenities expected in a resort hotel - pool, spa, gym, walking trails and more, but it really is the view that makes this hotel get an excellent rating.

I would 100% recommend this hotel, we went on honeymoon for a week, It was also my husbands birthday during our stay and the staff sneaked a bottle of Prosecco in our room which was a nice surprise. There's always plenty of choice for food at the restaurant, it only opens for breakfast, dinner and an evening meal, all are serve yourself so you get what you like. All unlimited. The poolside bar serves burgers and hotdogs with chips 1-3pm and cheese and ham toasties with crisps 4-5pm. They serve cold drinks, wine and spirits until 7pm. The bar below the poolside bar opens at 7pm serving drinks and crisps. There's always food and drinks, plenty of choice too! Staff are always happy and pleased to serve (I will add if you're all inclusive, only 2 alcoholic drinks at a time, just means going up again lol. The staff really try and get you involved in activities unless you want a chilled time, they soon get to know who wants to. The aqua aerobics instructor's are amazing, how they dance like that for that long in that heat is unbelievable. They also play poolside bingo plus loads of other activities. The second pool is deeper and on the lower level, not as busy there, depends if you want to be in the quieter area. The room was lovely and clean, the beds and towels were changed daily (if you don't want/need room service there's a tag on your door to display this). There's a corner shop 5 mins away and beach 10 mins away. Great place, great location. Please ignore the negative reviews, don't let them put you off. Get early flights so you arrive in the day/evening. We will be going back, can't wait. Thank you all at Garden Playanatural, see you soon!
