Hotel has nice design but we had a terrible experience. Safety concerns, power & water outages, unreasonable management. I didn't feel safe because the patio door to my room didn't lock. I asked them to fix it or put a broomstick in the track to keep it from opening and they refused. There's The no nightime security. The room had a sweage pipe odour that came and went. There was a terrible storm. Near hurricane force wind. The town flooded, beach clubs and hotels were damaged. The military was brought in to help. The power & water at Onda went out with two days left on our reservation. Zero communication from hotel management. No drinking water. No backup generator. No way to charge cell phones, so no idea what was happening. We didn't feel safe and asked for the last two nights to be refunded because we wanted to leave the island. They refused. Ended up paying for Onda while we were paying for and staying at another hotel in Cancun. On top of that, the hotel management knew nothing about taxis and ground transportation and were unable to help us with that. I don't know how locals don't know this basic info. Eventually we got a taxi that could bring us to the Ferry, despite the roads looking like rivers. I don't recommend this hotel. Do not pre pay for your stay so you can avoid paying for rooms if you have to leave due to disasters. It's astonishing that in a place that floods regularly, that the hotel has no contingency plan to ensure guests are taken care of. Not even bottled water. Certainly no power banks at the ready to charge guests phones. The lack of preparedness and complete disregard for guests was baffling. I can't in goog conscience recommend this hotel.
