This will be our last night here as tomorrow we go into Kruger park, our stay has been lovely the staff are happy and always smiling, we have eaten well the food is of good quality and presentation is lovely, the staff are always ready to help you in any way possible. The lodge is teaming with wildlife and very well maintained the rooms are spacious and the bed really snuggly. If I was to complain about anything it would be that the bathtubs in the rooms are fabulous but the hot water runs cold before you can fill it more than about 1/4 deep . However they also have indoor and outdoor showers which are just as wonderful so nothing to complain about really. I recommend anyone coming this way to look it up and book.

Ich war ein wenig enttäuscht über die Kommunikation. Niemand hat uns angekündigt, dass es am ersten Tag unseres Aufenthalts keine Macht gab. Unsere Freunde, die vor uns kamen, mussten uns schreiben und uns auf dem neuesten Stand halten, bis ich selbst die Unterkunft erreichte. Unsere Freunde, die wir die Villa mit teilten, mussten in die Stadt fahren, um ihre Mobiltelefone zu bezahlen. Wir kommen erst an dem Tag, nachdem die Kraft zum Wohnraum endlich wiederhergestellt wurde. Die Unterkunft ist schön, aber unsere Villa könnte einige notwendige Wartung, einige Baseboard-Fliesen müssen repariert werden. Wir konnten keine Lampen verwenden, weil es keine Ausgänge oder keine Konverter-Plugs für die Ausgänge gab. Der Hausmeister sagte, die vorherigen Gäste hätten sie gestohlen. Ich hatte eine Lampe auf meinem Nachtstuhl, die sinnlos war, da es keinen Ausweg gab. Im dritten Schlafzimmer war kein Aircon oder sogar ein Fan. Bei unserem ersten Frühstück erhielten wir einen Korb mit Toast und der Toast wurde in Maggots und anderen Fehler abgedeckt. Geben Sie sich Zeit, da es etwa 30 Minuten dauert, nachdem Sie einen Auftrag gegeben haben, da es nur 1 Koch gibt. Das englische Frühstück war sonst lecker und das Personal war sehr freundlich. Es wäre schön, wenn die Unterkunft mit Bügeln für Gäste, die die dicke Duvet Deckel zu heiß für Schlaf finden würde. Die Aircon’s in den 2 Hauptschlafzimmern funktionierte großartig und das WLAN war stark und sehr zuverlässig. Am Morgen fuhren wir nach Kruger Park war der Koch genügend freundlich, uns mit einem warmen Frühstück und heißen Kaffee um 5 Uhr. Wir schätzten das wirklich. Die Boma ist ein toller Touch und wir genießen eine erstaunliche Braii durch ein Feuer zwei der Nächte. Der Bodenbewahrer hält das Eigentum sehr sauber und präsentierbar. Das private Wildnis war ein wenig enttäuschend, da die einzigen Tiere, die wir sahen, warthogs, Nyalas und Impalas. Wir fahren mehrmals um, aber das war alles, was wir gesehen haben. Ich würde persönlich nicht noch einmal bleiben oder Freunde zu diesem Wildnis einladen.

This place is South Africa's best kept secret. I have never raved about a lodge like I will about this one. Everything was great and I highly, highly recommend you stay here. Before I get to my own experience, I would advise you to forgo, at least in part, the fancy schmancy safari lodges that cost up to $1,000 a night and stay here instead because it's just as nice if not nicer and you get WAY more value for your money and can still book guided safaris from here and see all of the animals your heart desires. What's more, you are near the world's third largest canyon here with a breathtakingly beautiful boat ride. Use eKhaya Bush Villa as your base to then explore both Kruger National Park and the canyon area. Now to my individual experience. To put it mildly, my trip to both Cape Town and Johannesburg did not go well and I was at the end of my rope. I had intended to stay at eKhaya Bush Villa two nights. Those two nights turned into four because it became my oasis of tranquility and beauty. I don't know how old the place is but everything looks BRAND NEW. Claire, the owner, is a hospitality goddess. Truly. Hearing of my unpleasant experiences in Cape Town and Johannesburg, she bent over backwards to make me - and all other guests - feel at home and she helped me salvage my vacation (my experiences in Cape Town and Johannesburg were so bad I was thinking of flying home to the U.S. early). I am a HUGE fan of Claire and eKhaya and you will be too. The rooms are very spacious, the beds very comfortable, the bathrooms are very spacious, the grounds are beautiful, the food is good and the staff friendly and helpful. AND it's in a secured estate so you are 100% safe!! This was important to me after my travails elsewhere. Whether you are a single traveler like me or part of a larger group, you should know you will be both safe and at home here. I can't recommend this place enough. My only regret is that Claire and eKhaya aren't closer to me in Los Angeles. I'd stay here as often as I could! Lucky you that you will get the chance to. Enjoy!
