Urban Lodge Hotel

Das Hotel liegt im Zentrum des Touristengebiets, aber in ruhiger Lage, sodass das Gebäude ruhig ist. Das Hotel selbst ist klein, sauber und recht komfortabel. Zu den Mängeln zählen das Fehlen eines Aufzugs sowie die Tatsache, dass das Zimmer zwar formal ein Fenster hat, aber direkt auf die Wand des Nachbargebäudes blickt – buchstäblich 20 cm entfernt. Gut, dass das Nachbargebäude das hat kein Fenster gegenüber haben. Die Auswahl an Frühstücksspeisen ist klein, aber das Frühstück selbst ist nicht schlecht. Allerdings ist der Platz zum Essen begrenzt, sodass Sie möglicherweise warten müssen, bis ein Tisch frei wird. Der Gesamteindruck vom Hotel ist nicht schlecht, ich kann wieder hier übernachten.

Central location, beautiful small alley, clean nice rooms, free wifi, no elevator though, small boutique hotel

Nestled on a quiet alleyway in the exciting district 1 of Ho chi Minh City this hotel has excellent amenities, clean beds, friendly staff and modern air conditioning. The pool has been closed post COVID… but the library in the lounge does not disappoint.

I don’t often write reviews, but I felt it was important to share my experience since it differed quite a bit from the reviews I read before booking. The Place Pros: The room was spotless and very clean. It’s a small, cozy space, but it had everything I needed, and it’s clear that a lot of thought went into the details. Cons: Noise: Unfortunately, despite the double-glazed windows, it was still quite noisy, especially on Saturday and Sunday nights. Even with earplugs, I found it hard to sleep. Kitchen/Living Area: This was a bit misleading. The main photo of the living area is actually a shared breakfast space for groups, available only until 9:30 AM. I wasn’t able to use it at all. When I asked if I could sit there to work, I was told it wasn’t allowed and was instead directed to a coffee shop. Water pressure: Very low. Thankfully, I only needed to wash my hair once. Bed: The mattress was quite firm. While not unbearable, it wasn’t comfortable for my back. Location: While central, the area is very touristy and hard to access by car. Expect to be dropped off on a busy street and carry your luggage to the property. Next time in Saigon, I’d likely choose a less touristy area to experience more local culture and cuisine. Accessibility: My room had 4 flights of stairs, which can be challenging when carrying suitcases. Customer Service The host, while fluent in English, had a rather condescending tone, which left me feeling unwelcome. Here are a few examples: • When I arrived for breakfast at 9:15 (it ends at 9:30), she seemed visibly annoyed and said, “OK fine, I will still serve you.” • When I had trouble with the safe box and asked for help, her response was, “You’re not doing it right. You need to read the instructions.” I explained I had, but she repeated, “You need to read it; everything is on the box.” • For a local restaurant recommendation, it took her 10 minutes to explain something vague instead of simply giving names. I ended up wandering aimlessly and crossing chaotic city intersections far more than I wanted. I felt as though any question or request was seen as an hassle or inconvenience. For me, how I’m treated is just as important as the space itself. A clean and functional room isn’t enough if the hospitality doesn’t match. While the property itself is clean, central, and practical, the overall experience was impacted by the lack of warmth and hospitality. I hope the feedback is helpful. I would not return or recommend Urban Lodge to friends.

Meet Miss Hanh, the most fabulous Manager at Urban Lodge. Hanh goes out of her way gives a pernsonalised service to her guests. The breakfast is Boutique all home-made fresh fruit, the best omelettes in Ho Chi Minh City. It is a small hotel in the heart of district one. What makes this a special experience is the attention to detail and the professionalism of Miss Hanh. The jewel in the crown of Urban Lodge and a hidden gem.💎

This place is fantastic, and an extraordinary value for the money. Hannah, the manager, was so helpful and friendly, and went above and beyond for myself and my son, including getting his favourite juices and fruits for breakfast. The rooms are clean and tidy with air conditioning. It’s like a small oasis in the middle of the back alley of a bustling city. One of my best experiences in SE Asia, and a wonderful introduction to Vietnam!! I was a bit worried as there didn’t seem to be much in the way of recent reviews, but this was an excellent experience and I would recommend this place to anyone. A few notes - there is no lift/elevator, so this could present an issue for those with mobility issues. There also is no pool (which I anticipated from another review.) I believe the pool is located at a sister property, as there seem to be a few operated by the same people.
