Have stayed at Orwell Hotel many times. First time in 2002! Great location, very comfortable and clean, great breakfasts, plenty of lounge space. My only quibble was that hotel didn't really seem geared up for dinners/lunches, maybe there is less demand for these nowadays. In the past the main dining room has been used and it was more formal/smarter.

I was a little concerned reading the reviews beforehand but we have just got back from a one night stay at Lifehouse Spa and we had a brilliant time! Emma at the front desk was fabulous throughout our stay and was really helpful with our many questions. Our room was ready when we arrived slightly early at 11am and we had a beautiful view. The spa facilities were great and were reasonably quiet, we never struggled getting a lounger. (I did email beforehand to ask when they were quietest and went with their suggestion of midweek so opted for Wednesday-Thursday.) We had breakfast, lunch x2 and dinner during our stay and all of the food was delicious. Would recommend the duck ragu for the starter! If we had to make any comments for areas of improvement, sometimes the food could take a little while to come out but we didn't mind really as we weren't exactly in a rush to go any where. The front desk was really helpful when we were checking out of our room but staying to use the spa facilities and looked after our luggage. We also got given a map to go for a walk before we left and the gardens are absolutely beautiful. Would definitely visit again!

I had stayed here before with my wife a few months back but this time something went wrong with my online booking as I did not get an email confirmation so I could not review my booking without a reference number. I then decided not to book directly but through Agoda and I was successful but when I arrived at the premises I discovered that two rooms were booked under my name. Jonny in reception saved the day because he cancelled one of the rooms for me and ensured that my room was cleaned in good time so that I could go to the football match on time. I know all about hotel life, having been a hotel manager, bar manager and purchase manager at various hotels in Britain and the Netherlands and I have to say that Johnny on reception is an outstanding employee and deserves a pay rise! Top man!

Das Hotel ist sehr sauber. Das Personal sehr freundlich und aufgestellt. Die Zimmer sind jedoch sehr sehr klein. Für einen kurzen Aufenthalt ok, mehr als 2 Nächte würde ich aber nicht hier bleiben wollen. Unser Zimmer (glaube nr. 118) hatte kein Fenster. Ausserdem war fast kein Platz für unsere Koffer. Das Hotel liegt ca. 20 Gehminuten vom Bahnhof Ipswich entfernt. Ein Taxi kostet ca. 6£. Für uns hat es jedoch gereicht. Wir waren mit dem Hotel zufrieden und würden es für einen weiteren Aufenthalt wieder buchen.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this establishment but everything was terrific. Travelling on a great value two month 1st class Eurailpass, I arrived by Greater Anglia train punctual to the minute and walked 150 metres. The pleasant lady owner stored my case. Arriving back at 1900 on a Friday night, the bar was humming. I enjoyed a delicious seafood platter, although it lacked large prawns as I am used to in Australia and Philippines. It had a good amount of salad. Food has improved in England from my first visit 30 tears ago when dining was poor. The accommodation is not suitable for the disabled as stairs are steep. The room was spacious and delightful with the feminine touch evident in the bee theme even on the doona cover. There were two chairs, classy furniture, excellent lighting and a TV. Lamps were trendy. No aircon so on a 29 degree day the room might be stuffy. A wide range of breakfast items were supplied including yoghurt. Some were in the fridge in the corridor. The bathroom also had great shower gel and shampoo plus even cotton ear buds. Shower pressure was reasonable and hot water sufficient. Towels were good but no bathmat. One mosquito greeted me at dawn. It was dealt with. There was some intruding light early evening as no blackout curtains in the bathroom or to the side of the bed. Great to see the intermodal Freightliner and GBRailFreight trains belting through Westerfield, keeping trucks with their cowboy drivers off the congested roads. The owners here have done a great job with the hotel that at GBP60 was great value.

whenever we have stayed at Travelodge in Clacton central we have always received excellent customer service. If there is a problem it is always dealt with promptly and to the customer's satisfaction. The hotel is very central, near the car park and very accessible for those who find it difficult to walk.

Barbara and Len very kindly accommodated me at the last minute and I was so glad I stayed, it is such a peaceful rural setting in the countryside with lovely views all around. The studio room was huge with everything I needed, a comfy bed, large bathroom, everywhere spotlessly clean. Breakfast was great, freshly squeezed orange juice was a real treat, and I enjoyed a good chat with Len. I wish I could’ve stayed longer, and hope to return.

Das war unser zweiter Aufenthalt hier und ich bin wirklich überrascht von den negativen Bewertungen. Es ist ein schönes Gebäude in einer zentralen Lage und die Zimmer sind top-notch. Es war warm, als wir blieben, aber wir sprachen einfach mit einer Dame aus der Hauspflege und sie brachte uns einen Turmfans. Wir schlossen die Gärten, legten eine der Schlüsselkarten in den Sockel und ließen den Fan auf - unser Zimmer war schön und cool, als wir zurückkamen. Air con wäre ein Bonus, aber es würde im Preis reflektiert. Wir fühlen es für die Qualität des Zimmers außergewöhnlich und würden nicht zögern, wieder zu bleiben. Re: Parkplatz - wir nahmen ”JustPark” und parkierten auf einem privaten Fahrrad auf der anderen Seite des Schlossgartens für weniger als 6 £ pro Tag.
