This hotel is based in one of the expensive areas of Hamburg, so any hotel here is priced above other places. The hotel is very traditional, and for what it is, it's great. It is based in an older building, and as such, it shouldn't be compared to modern hotels, although it tries to compromise between old and new. It provides a traditional stay, with a lovely breakfast and airy, big rooms. The dining room was once a restaurant before covid, but they had to compromise cost wise, and one has to bear this in mind for the hotel in general. It does what it is supposed to do very well, and all the staff are lovely. It's not family run, as per prior reviews, the lady that owns it also runs Hotel Blankanese and the staff are a mix of random folk, all very nice, most speak good English. The hotel is surrounded by restaurants and the tube station is 600m away, it is very well positioned. There is a Rewe close by, that's the German version of Tesco, it's at the back of the tube station and down the stairs. The TV's are quite small, no English channels, but you can change Nickledeon and the Comedy Channel to English via the settings on the tv. If you are getting surgery here, the showers are quite small and have a step into it, but the hotel is very well positioned. There is no elevator, but you can get a room on the ground floor. There are elements of the hotel that could benefit from some small updating, but it is very clean. Reception closes over night, and extended check outs are possible, but paid for at expected rates. No kettles and extras here, like I said, you pay for the area and tradition here. All in all, if you are a fan of tradition, you'll like it here, and it functions ok as a modern hotel. All the best to the staff and thanks :)
