I read great reviews about Hakone Pax Yoshino. It's an older hotel in a tourist town and appears quite nice. My room was OK, large and could use some updating. My traditional dinner and service was spectacular, hence my 3-star rating. What tainted a one-night stay is I was traveling with a vegetarian friend and not only was she shut out of a dinner she paid for, but the front desk agent said they couldn't accommodate her, there would be no refund or substitutions, because we were traveling as solos we couldn't sit together - so many ”couldn'ts” that were simply not true. This tainted my stay and I went alone to dinner - plenty of room for another person - which was great. I was embarrassed that I had picked this hotel for friends to stay separately and upon arrival was told that our plan didn't include meals, which they sure did. So, at the front desk for about $300 per night, everything is ”couldn't”. Breakfast was just OK compared to dinner. I loved wearing the yakata and having hot spring water in the room's tub (which could use updating) was nice. In the morning, I was told to reserve a spot on a shuttle to the train station for what reason, I'm not sure. When no shuttle showed up for me, my friend and others waiting - and waiting - and waiting - we were then told that the shuttle doesn't always show up. Why the reservation for something that doesn't happen? The front desk could not request a cab, another ”couldn't”. Since most of us leaving had trains to catch and tours scheduled, we walked the 15 minutes or so to the station in the rain. I saw other guests I met while waiting also drenched at the station. In short, I'm not impressed though so much of Japan has impressive accommodations and kindness. Hakone Pax Yoshino falls short. For that reason, I wouldn't stay again and don't recommend it. Too bad, because the traditional dinner and restaurant serving staff are top notch. I'm sure the chef - and a dinner this good has to have a chef - would have said to serve a vegetarian rice, vegetables, desserts of which there were several as well as a large drink menu and other dishes - and the experience would have been better. Unfortunate that the front desk person we had could only say no, you don't have, we can't. Well, I think they could have. Very sad.

Wonderful onsen hotel, quite a walk from hakone yumoto station but it’s worth it. Got a room by the river, onsen was amazing with men’s onsen in 7th floor and outdoors, buffet spread was delicious especially dinner. Would love to return!

The location of this hotel is fantastic. It is just a few minutes walk to the Hakone shrine and tori gate on the water and about 15 minutes walk to the town by the water. From the town you can catch the pirate ship or ferry to the base of the cable car and head up the mountain to other attractions. The hotel grounds are lovely and full of pathways lined with Rhododendrum. The rooms are a great size and all have a view of the lake. I stayed on the third floor and in my opinion rooms on the third and fourth floors have a better view but the second floor rooms have a balcony and the first floor rooms have patios. The hotel provides yukatas and all toiletries you might need. The hotel onsen is small but nice and also has an outdoor bath. The hotel spa is very relaxing with a variety of services. I did not have dinner at the property but breakfast was very good. Every staff member I encountered was extremely professional, courteous and friendly. My only complaint is the mattress was very firm and I prefer some thing softer but that is a personal preference.

This is a relatively average resort hotel. It is set in the beautiful Hakone region, but has limited vantage points to see the views. The rooms are quite average with odd steps down to the room and bathroom. Also the food at the hotel is not particularly good, we had breakfast and a dinner, which I would not recommend. The service was helpful, but I would not specifically recommend this hotel.

Die japanischen Zimmer sind fast bis klein, um zwei Personen mit Gepäck zu hausen, Matratzen sehr dünn, kein Aircon verfügbar (nur Luft sauber). Zimmer war run-down, das ganze Hotel ist in der dringenden Notwendigkeit für Make-over. Es hat sicherlich bessere Tage gesehen. Daher ist es überpreist. Auf der Plusseite: Das Essen war gut und so war das Onsen. Aber man würde ähnliche Onsen Standards in der Nähe, in der Tat, neben der Tür finden. This hotel is a bit hard to reach by public transport. There is a bus that stops closeby, but there is also a train, however, after that you have to walk for 20 minutes and the road can be quite steep in some parts. In the vicinity, there are some convenience stores and restaurants. The town of Hakone is beautiful and located close to mount Fuji. We had a lovely ryokan-style suite with twin beds. Everything was very clean and comfortable, including the pillows. Breakfast is buffet-style and offers both European and Asian food. There are both a public onsen and a private one. Staff is very friendly and speaks English very well.

Geh mit meinem Mann, ich habe lange im Internet geguckt und auch auf die Empfehlungen von Kollegen gehört, ich habe mich für diesen entschieden, die Lage ist nicht schlecht, der Bahnhof ist ca. 7-9 Minuten zu Fuß entfernt, es gibt einige Geschäfte auf dem Weg, aber man muss genau aufpassen, was man kaufen möchte Tagsüber schließt die Tür sehr früh, und nachts gibt es nur noch Convenience-Stores ... Die meisten Servicekräfte im Hotel sind älter Leute, die Sprechgeschwindigkeit wird etwas hoch sein, das Englischniveau ist normal, die tägliche Kommunikation ist in Ordnung ... die Einrichtungen sind wirklich alt, die Sauberkeit ist wirklich durchschnittlich in Japan. Der unbefriedigende Ort ist dieses Handtuch. Es gibt nur ein Stück für jede Person. Es gibt keinen neuen zu ersetzen. Sie können es nur zum Trocknen zur Wiederverwendung in den Raum zurückbringen. 　久しぶりの紗らでの宿泊。ここは箱根湯本駅から歩いておみやげ物屋の通りを抜けて、酒屋、コンビニの前を通り歩いて行ける適度な距離にあり、坂もほとんどなく手軽に行きやすい宿です。好みのおつまみや飲み物を買って向えます。もちろん、宿にもアルコール飲み放題等あります。ロビーには箱根駅伝の参加校のタオルが展示してあり、正月の余韻が残っていました。大浴場も床の一部が畳敷きです。露天風呂は小さく、景観は斜面の緑で森の中や山間の宿、古都などを連想させます。露天、２か所の貸切風呂は、浴槽に入り、出て、湯が減るとかけ流し口から湯が出てくるみたいです。または、湯温が下がった時も出るみたいです。最初に訪れた時から大分立ちますが、一部施設が老朽化しているみたいです。女性用の浴室では、シャワーホルダーが取れてるところもあったと妻が言っていました。しかし、全体的には古さは感じず清潔な宿だと感じました。スタッフのサービスも問題ないのですが、系列の翠雲に比べると少し元気がない(静か?)ように感じました。正月勤務で疲れているのかもしれません。部屋付き露天風呂は、春から秋には気が付かなかったのですが、陶器製と思われる浴槽が冷えていて、お湯を入れても少しぬるかったです。沸かし湯なので冬季はもっと湯温を上げたら良いと思いました。食事処は一部横並び席で、感染予防には良いのですが、左利き、右利きとうまく並ばないとすき焼きがやりずらいです。ほとんど飲みませんでしたが、予約時に申し込んだ記憶はないのですが、正月のサービスなのか飲み放題が付いていました。例えば、１万円ちょいの食事を地元の店でとるのなら、平日、ここまで来て、予約さえ取れればここで宿泊して、夕食食べた方が良いと思うので、積極的に行きたい宿です。

Wir hatten eine fantastische Erfahrung bei Hakone Airu, einer meiner Frau und ich werde nie vergessen. Die Lage ist wunderschön, mit fantastischen Aussichten aus unserem Balkon und privatem Onsen (Außenbad). Die ganze Erfahrung ist für die Privatsphäre eingerichtet, so wie auch das private Bad, Sie erhalten ein privates Essen mit dem Essen, das Ihnen gebracht wird. Auch die Bar hat wenig Einzelzimmer. Das Hotel ist zwar mit vielen Merkmalen eines traditionellen Ryokan (mattete Fußboden, traditionelle Kleider) ausgestattet, ist aber auch sehr modern - unser Zimmer war gut klimatisiert, und obwohl wir es nicht brauchen, unser Zimmer hatte ein großes modernes Fernsehen. Die Speiseerfahrung war das, was wirklich die Erfahrung einzigartig machte. Das Essen wird im “Kaiseki”-Stil serviert, so gibt es viele Kurse - der engste westliche Vergleich ist ein Geschmackmenü. Seien Sie bereit, hier Abenteuer zu sein, gingen wir für die Krabben-Option als unser „Main“ aber wir wurden auch serviert Sashimi (rohfisch), gekocht Esel, eine Art Meeresschnecke (sieht schrecklich, aber schmeckt lecker!) und sogar Gelee! Es gibt viel Nahrung und wir fühlten uns nicht unter Druck, alles zu essen, also nicht aus, wenn Sie nichts mögen. Wir wurden ein gedrucktes Menü in Englisch gegeben, das eine große Erinnerung macht, sowie uns zu erfahren, was wir essen. Frühstück am Morgen hatte zwei Optionen - ein japanischer Stil (rohe Fische, Gemüseheiße und ganze gegrillte Fische) oder westlicher Stil (Walz, Ei, Brot). Wir gingen für jeden von uns! Das Personal war fantastisch. Gut ausgebildet, gesprochen sehr gut Englisch, und sehr freundlich und willkommen. Es ist eine einzigartige Erfahrung, die ich empfehle, Sie brauchen hier nur eine Nacht, auch wenn Sie länger im Bereich bleiben. Hakone selbst ist eine sehr schöne Stadt und ein wunderschöner Kontrast von den Extremen von Tokio. Danke für einen fantastischen Aufenthalt an allen Mitarbeitern von Hakone Airu.

Disappointed. 2nd visit to Hakone Fuga. Not the same anymore. Where should I even begin. Check-in Process was a disaster. No one noticed that we had arrived nor assisted to carry our luggages from our car. What a huge difference from our first visit to Hakone Fuga. Hotel staff were more focused on domestic tourists than foreign tourist visiting. Despite arriving before 2 couples (domestic tourists), they were allowed to sit at the bar counter and were served more professionally than the front desk staff that served us who did not seem very clear in the check-in process. Furthermore, they placed us at the 2nd level and the staff didn't go the extra mile to carry all our luggages up, and we had to carry some of it ourselves. No suggestions from staff to assist us to carry it down upon check-out, we had to do it ourselves too. No introduction to the room because I mentioned we visited before once, but the room type was different from our initial stay. He carried one of our luggages up, and walked us to our room, and left. Very poor hospitality compared to our first visit The only saving grace was their dinner/breakfast staff at the restaurant as the service there felt genuine and sincere. Fusion food for the dinner course lacked the authentic Japanese experience we were looking for. If you expect to charge your guest almost 99,000 yen per night, please be prepared to UP your service and standards as they have completely fell short from our first visit to Hakone Fuga. We will definitely not return again because the entire experience felt like we were ”ghosted” by the hotel staff. If I have to rate the first visit to the second visit, it was 9/10 to 1/10 (service staff efforts dinner/breakfast). Also, if you are going to practice double standards (Japanese Customers vs Foreign Tourist), please do us a favor, don't advertise your ryokan/hotel to international tourists. You completely let us down, Hakone Fuga. We wasted our 99,000 yen on your hotel for 1 night. Other ryokans charged us lower and the service was impeccable. You need to, seriously, REFLECT
