Econo Lodge Hagerstown I-81

I'm writing a review for this site b/c I don't know how people wrote any good reviews. Perhaps they are for the quality inn side, which is maybe better? Mybe a different econo lodge? The Hagerstown econo lodge is the grossest, dirtiest, scariest place I've ever stayed. The entire place stinks of **** and ...maybe meth?- as in you need a mask to stay here. I did not wash my face because did not want to use the towel provided. People hanging out at front and back entrances with rat traps everywhere. Didn't touch anything I didn't have to in the place. Really unsafe. Cameras everywhere but front desk isn't manned- call someone from a phone on wall to come to desk- and 75' screen of hallway video images greets you. Seriously, stay anywhere but here- just sleep in your car on the side of the road if you have to.

I wouldn’t even give this place a 1 star if I could!! DO NOT STAY HERE! Hotel smells disgusting! Bed had dirty sheets that previous guest slept in. It was obvious! Bug on one of the pillows. Sketchy people doing sketchy things. Light/fan in bathroom made an awful loud noise. The bathroom was horrible! Feels dirty and disgusting. Had to go up steps to 2nd floor with my 85 year old grandmother. No elevator. The list goes on and on. RUN! RUN! RUN!

This hotel is a prime example of a hotel misrepresentation on the internet/Choice Privilege website. We were moving our daughter from Massachusetts back to NC. Not familiar with Hagerstown, Md. we needed a hotel that would let me use my points for one room and we pay for the other. I don’t have a lot of points so we booked this hotel. Looked very nice online. It was in a very questionable part of Hagerstown. The hotel was half Econo Lodge half quality Inn. The night auditor was very nice, but I couldn’t figure out why he kept telling me I didn’t want to stay on the Econo side. He gave us our keys to two rooms on the Econo side. My daughter, who is in her 20’s walked up, the night auditor’s expression changed to a look of concern and asked for the keys back, said he was putting us on the Quality Inn side. My concern for our safety grew. We never left the lobby, I immediately checked us out. Lost points and money. As we were leaving we drove around to the Econo side, little to no lighting in the parking lot, very few lights on in the hotel. Mattresses leaned up against the wall outside. I really feel there was questionable activity going on there. Not a safe environment at all.

I’ve stayed in some shabby places, but this place is WAY worse than a broken latch or poorly patched plaster. The lampshades were broken and water stained. The sheets: one had holes in it and another had something stuck to it. The fan in the bathroom had no cover. The dresser was missing a handle and looked like a dog had chewed it. Outside my room, the hall smelled like garbage, and the fire door on the stairs won’t close, meaning that in case of fire smoke and flames are channeled to upper floors. I had to wrestle a luggage cart down 5 steps sideways because of the low ceiling. No one or even two of these problems would be a deal breaker, but all of them (especially the crappy bed linens) make it a dump. Oh yeah, I was also confronted by a panhandler while unloading my car. I’m giving one extra star because the woman who checked me in was very nice.

Peaceful atmosphere. Rooms are clean and hygiene . Friendly staff . Good service .worth for each penny. Surrounded with many attractions within a radius of a mile. Shopping outlets in a walkable distance. Wish to be here again and again. Thank you

Price was cheaper than other hotels in town. Rooms were good enough for a night stay. Other things were good including security , front desk lobby, gym.Public Laundary works good. Wifi was very fast.Quality inn is the adjoining bldg,
