Laika Hotel

The only good thing about this hotel is the location. The rooms were dirty, and the bathroom was covered in mould. The emergency stairs were also used as storage on the ground floor, blocking access. As soon as these issues were spotted me and my friends immediately started looking for another hotel, and left within an hour.

Was passing through Guangzhou on the way back home from Chengdu, this hotel had good reviews and great photos for a nice price. Unfortunately all the reviews are genuine scams/paid for - immediately evident when you walk in to be greeted by a receptionist working at a makeshift lobby made from a kitchen sink .. the pictures are very very different to the actual rooms, and they have no similarity at all - like nothing, absolutely take.  The place is very run down, extremely old, and very unhygienic. Photos are of course attached. Me and my friends all had separate rooms, and all of us immediately met up to discuss and had to checkout as we were just horrified and a bit worried about the health concerns.  In terms of amenities, bathroom was extremely cramped, the bins were dirty, floor was sticky and dusty, and the tv was broken with lines going horizontally through it with dead pixels.  Each room was full of black mould; and as a doctor I just simply wasn’t able to stomach sleeping there. Secondary; and way less important, but the shower head was broken so it only worked from about 4feet of height (couldn’t lock it in place higher) and I’m a 6 foot man.. really horrible. In addition, there was so much buildup of gunk and grime in the shower head holes, only a bit of water would come out so it was pretty freezing.  There’s just no effort for cleanliness at all, really just a horribly rundown place. Total tourist trap.  Location was decent if you like to be in the heart of the action though! Next to a bustling street.

Location is great. Service is great, and everyone in the hotel is helpful. Recommended.

very strategic location. Plenty of restaurants here. Just that rooms really not clean. And taxi cannot reach the door step of the hotel.

Great accessibility being nearby to metro transport that's within walkable distance and just at one of the tourist spots with lots of variety for food and shopping. Cleanliness is fine if you are not too fussy, Recep and cleaning staff are all very friendly and helpful. Just don't be shy to ask for help and they are ready to serve. Overall, it's a pleasant experience at Laika Hotel.

The location is ideal for food venture if you like to taste the different type of food. The sound proofing of the room is good but the room size is a bit small. The room that I stay is without windows that make it feels stuffy!
