Grindelwald Lodge and Gardens

What a sad experience this was. From what used to be an amazing holiday destination years ago. Completely run down now and neglected. Completely different from what google images show. For starters they forgot the cot for our 9 month old. Then we check in and the cabin is so tiny, no room for a cot anyway. 2nd bed pushed up against broken window blinds and the front door. And directly under the heat pump. TV picked up only one channel. No cell phone reception at all throughout almost the entire location. The wifi that was included we couldn't even connect to. Went for dinner at the restaurant on the property. Food was overpriced and the chicken snitzel was the size of my fist, tiny! The pasta my partner ordered, no flavour at all. Cheeseburger for my 3yo, like cardboard. Asked staff when we ordered dinner if we needed to book in for buffet breakfast next day. They said no need. When we arrived 8am for breakfast next day, staff ignored us and 2 other couples when waiting at sign to be seated. After approaching then they went on to tell us there's no room and it will be a 45 minute wait... We went elsewhere. Spa bath in our cabin was missing jet covers, weird stains on bottom of the tub. Kids jumping pillow had been removed. Not even a playground there anymore for the kids. The pool... YUCK! merky water.. stained pool. Rusted door frames throughout. Algi growing around hot tub. Hot tub walls are yellow.. disgusting. Stagnant water in the outside water features that no longer run.. new target golf neglected, balls floating everywhere looks like they maybe gather them once a week.. went there expecting our kids to enjoy what we experienced 20+yrs ago as kids.. how disappointed we were!!

Cabin overlooking golf course with a good view, a bit tired, quirky, excellent bed pillows, good facilities in room. Interesting shops bakery. Excellent breakfast and meals at restaurant. Exceptional value - very relaxing stay.
