Ponta Dos Ganchos Exclusive Resort

It is a pleasure for me to take the time to write this review. Also, it is a much larger pleasure for me to say that this is the VERY-BEST HOTEL that I have ever stayed in my life. Most of the best 5* hotels that I've ever stayed and enjoyed would be roughly a 3* hotel compared to Ponta Dos Ganchos. I've had read some reviews before going there, and most of them were fabulous but a few --I cannot understand those few opinions. Really. If you ever decide to travel there based on this review, you have my permission to write me directly if it does not meet your expectations. Short list of Pros and Cons: PROS: EVERYTHING! -The service: the best service we've ever enjoyed. There are ready for every need you may have and you will never get a "no" for an answer. -The kindness and attention of the staff: part of the service, but it deserves a separate chapter, is the kindness and attention of all the staff. They are definitely professionals. And big time. Junior, Mayzon, Lucas, German, Cleverson, every one of them helps make this place a unique place. -The-Most-Romantic-Ever: out of this world, everything is ready for a romantic and private ocassion with your love one. -The Bungalows: wow. That's all I can say because I do not want to spoil anything. Wow. Wow. Wox x 1.000.000 times. We stayed in Vila Especial Bungalow. Wow. You have your own pool, your own deck with chairs to sunbath, you own sauna, your own yacuzzi... in short, you own palace. -The restaurants: beautiful, complete, cozy. -The food: incredible. Great everything. Seafood, entres, desserts, meat. We couldn't stop enjoying their Kir Royales. -The special events: Dinner on the Island, Dinner in Veleza, just lovely and romantic. Several steps dinners prepare for only those who booked the experiencia, you can have a romantic dinner, alone with your spouse/wife/significant other/whoever you are with. -The whole place is FANTASTIC. The gym, small but good enough. Swimming pool: there is a large one that I did see but didnt use because we had our own pool in the room. The Loja, where we got some nice stuff as souvenir. The breakfast restaurant, from where you can see the coast. The flowers and plants of the whole place, in the middle of the sounds from birds, insects, the win. Total and relaxing natural silence. CONS: -The only CON I may find is if you drive from Florianopolis airport AT NIGHT. I DID NOT DO IT, so this is not an educated opinion but just a guessing. The road from Florianopolis is quite nice and an easy ride, except for the last 20' where there are a lots of zigzaging and closed curves as you travel by the cost and into higher terrains. Some passages of the road reminded me those of the Amalfi Coast in Italy. So, the only thing that I can recommend is to drive there while there still is sunlight. Stunning views, exceptional services. They go above and beyond in every detail. There’s nothing I can say here that was not already said about this place. It’s absolutely wonderful. Staff is incredible! A huge shout out to: Herman that made our experience very sweet - sharing his love of Argentinean dulce de leche with us! Wylian that was very kind in every breakfast! Very attentive! The concierge team that made our stay very pleasant and wowed us everyday with something special. We did standup paddle boarding, relaxed at the beach, did hiking and enjoyed our private pool and jacuzzi a lot!!! We plan to come back very soon!

Fantastic resort with very attentive staff. Top qualification in all areas. Brilliant beach, first class accommodation and kitchen on world class level. They have thought of everything. Every detail works and is well thought out. Will likely return.

Brazil is a huge country, has beaches all along its coast and tourism is very developed. They have enormous quantity of hotels but not in the upper luxury segment. This hotel is a surprise for Brazil. It compares to any top luxury sea side resort in Europe. It is owned by 2 partners who developed it and is managed by a Swiss descendant hotelier. The location is on a hill overlooking a beach, nestled between 3 little islands, one of them accesible by a foot bridge. They have 2 restaurants plus a breakfast room. Menus and food are of top quality. The rooms consist of cottages spread out over the hill, of different sizes and categories. We had an Esmeralda cottage and a Arvoredo cottage. Both had a huge deck overlooking the sea, private pool, sauna, living room, plus bedroom. Everything is decorated with taste and quality. Landscaping throughout the property has been done In a wonderful way taking advantage of the Brazilian Flora with lush green leaves species. They have a gym, indoor pool and massage area. Staff comes from the little village on the doorsteps of the hotel and are extremely kind and well trained. Attention to detail is everywhere, from housekeeping to the restaurants and reception area. Internet and AC work perfectly. Bathrooms are huge with fantastic shower heads. Just relaxing on the private deck viewing the sea is paradise. I would say that this hotel with only 25 bungalows is a rare outstanding exception in Brazil’s hotel environment. I know Brazil quite well and have never seen such a property. It reminds me the hotel IL Pellicano in Italy, another 5 stars top luxury resort on the sea.

This resort met and exceeded our expectations. The service is impeccable and the attention to detail is one of a kind. At any given time, we felt like the only two people on the resort. When we visited, there were only five other couples there including ourselves. We like quiet vacations because we both have high stress, high demanding careers so it’s important for us to sleep in and not feel rushed for breakfast or anything. This resort lets you plan your stay according to what you feel like doing. Room service is until 1am and it’s an extensive menu so late night snacks were always available. We were able to eat breakfast whenever we felt like it, be it at 12 noon when we finally would leave our room. The breakfast menu is a tasting menu so it changes daily. Some choices were better than others but all in all, if you have an adventurous palate, you’ll be satisfied. There is an option for continental breakfast as well. Also whatever you like, you can always ask for more being as breakfast is included in your stay. Lunch and dinner were very good. Again, be open to trying new things and you’ll be surprised at how good it tastes. The chefs take their time preparing you well curated meals that satiate every palate. This is funny but I must say, the housekeeping must have walkie talkies because it’s like they know exactly when you leave your room and by the time you come back, it’s been cleaned or refreshed. I thought that was very thoughtful and just another way they made our stay that much more enjoyable. The staff is AMAZING! In particular Gabriel and Tania. We would have long talks about pretty much anything and they were so helpful with whatever we needed. All of the staff were great but those two went above and beyond for my husband and I and we truly appreciated it. We never go back to the same place twice as we are currently trying to visit a country in every continent, but the south of Brazil currently has my heart and Ponta dos Ganchos will see us again. I had the pleasure of staying here for 5 nights in January. The weather was sadly not wonderful - often cloudy, some rain (particularly at night) and only 1 truly beautiful sunny beach day. However, this was obviously not the fault of the hotel which was spectacular. Just some food for thought if you think about going in mid-January! We stayed in Bungalow 9 which was in their base category so no private pool or hot tub. However, it was very nice and spacious with two private outdoor spaces. I assume the hotel was at full capacity all or most of the nights we were there, but as people mention, it never feels crowded. You can get a prime seat at the restaurant whenever you want, for example. I love their vibe of taking it easy, no worries. For example, breakfast has no end time, no reservations needed for the restaurants and they're very flexible about spa appointment changes/cancellations (they just ask you inform them 2 hours in advance). It's definitely got this barefoot, relaxed, but still ultra-luxurious vibe. We never had to call for housekeeping because they clearly knew when we were out and and about and would send someone to clean. It felt very turn-key. We had wrapped trekking in Patagonia so we were mostly just in the mood to relax. We went to the beach daily and used the complimentary equipment - paddleboards, canoe, snorkeling gear, etc. The water is really pretty, loungers are comfortable and service is attentive. Shout out to the wonderful staff including Renaud (from the restaurant on the beach) and Isadora who made sure we were taken care of. Everyone was really nice and welcoming! Luxury without the pretense. Wouldn't hesitate to come back!
