Quinta Da Marka

We didn’t want to leave. Quinta da Marka is amazing and couldn’t be in a nicer location. The Terraces are wonderful to sit on. The staff are so warm and welcoming and really made our stay very special. We spent 5 nights and enjoyed every day. There is so much to see in the area and having the train a short walk away was great to go to Pinhão. Thank you to everyone we will return.

My husband and I felt like we died and went to heaven during our amazing stay at this Quinta. It was all so amazing, views of the Douro from our room, the delicious food, the excellent service, and courteous, smiling staff. There are multiple places to sit with a book and glass of wine, including the swimming pool. You can take a short train ride to nearby Pinhoa for shopping and wine tasting. It is an easy walk to the small, local depot, or the Quinta will arrange to drop you off and pick you up on your return. Quinta da Marka also provides excellent wine of its own. Angela was like our Spirit Guide; she directed us to the best the area has to offer. Every night we had dinners prepared by the excellent chef that were truly out of this world. We would go back there in a heartbeat.

Oh my! Where do I start! Angela picked us up at the train station for quick 5 minute ride to Quinta Da Marka! This quaint picturesque hotel is a Jewel in the Duoro Valley. We only stayed one night but we had a private dinner for 8 and it was simply amazing! The welcome bottles of wine were such a treat that we bought several to take with us on the rest of our journey through Portugal. If you need to decompress and just relax this is the hotel for you. There is a beautiful view everywhere you look, a swimming pool that looks down on the Duoro river and some of the best wine you will ever drink. My only complaint is that they don't ship to the US! Love this place!

I totally loved Quinta da Marka! Angela couldn’t have been more delightful and helpful (and fluent in English). All staff on site were SUPURB and friendly, despite language barrier. We were only staying for one night, and didn’t want to leave! The views are spectacular. The view from the beautiful house windows were like paintings! The lovely pool had ample seating and sun beds. The terrace above also had seating. All of which looked over the Douro river. On arrival we were given a tasty Rosé welcome drink. Thank you! Our room (number 7) was fantastic. Very quiet, well equipped and comfortable, with views to the river. We started our stay with a wine tasting session. This was brilliant. The wines were all delicious and served with cheese and crackers. We had a lovely time tasting and chatting. After wine tasting (in my opinion, the best wine we have tasted in the Douro Valley) we headed to the pool to relax and take in the scenery. We had the area to ourselves! We arranged to have dinner at the hotel. This was 3 courses. Very reasonably priced and very tasty. We enjoyed more of the lovely Marka wine! A really special evening, made even better by the good food, excellent wine and fantastic and very friendly service. After a SUPURB nights sleep, we had an amazing breakfast. Angela was very helpful with suggesting places to visit moving forward. Once checked out, we were invited to spend time by their lovely pool. Thank you Angela and your team!

My wife and I so enjoyed celebrating my birthday at the Quinta da Marka. Angela made everything very special, was very attentive and caring. The hotel is 10 minutes walk from Ferrao station ( call and they'll pick you up if you don't want to walk uphill), has a wonderful pool overlooking the river, and our room had a fantastic view down the river. It's easier to eat here as there are no restaurants nearby- the 3 course dinner was very good. This is a real 'away from everything' hotel- perfect for a relaxing few days. We were on a walking trip and ended our tour in Pinhao which we didn't really like that much as it was so full of tourists- stay here instead if you want peace and quiet. Many thanks Angela- we will be back on our next visit to Portugal!

We spent one night at this lovely little hotel. The drive from Porto to this hotel started out easy enough and then we hit the Douro hills to arrive at the hotel. Surprised we didn’t fall off the cliff!! DRIVE SLOW. The hotel is set on a hill right on the river with incredible views over the Douro. Our room equally had windows overlooking the river!! The room and bathroom were nice…bed was old school but comfortable. The tiny TV didn’t work. The pool was the real selling point…we pretty much spent our afternoon there. Wine and cheese delivered right to our lounge chairs. Dinner was available at night both if you wanted a full sit down or just a snack. Breakfast was plentiful. Angela and kitchen staff were all very friendly and helpful! Would definitely stay here again!
