Country Woods Inn

After looking at all reviews, we landed on the prairie house. We needed a space for 5 adults and 2 toddlers. The reviews are exceptional across all vacation rental sites, which made me all the more confused. Cons: this house is sketchy. Is it even up to code?? There were cracks in the walls in the room I slept in. It was a shame, the property is so relaxing and kid friendly, we all wanted to be out of the house as much as possible, for all the wrong reasons. On a smaller note- missing door knobs, doors that wouldn't close at all, lights that didn't work, tvs but no service, broken tile and sinks. I don't think that any amount of cleaning would help this house. The cost per night is outrageous for a home that is falling apart. Pros: couldn't pick a better location for our trip. The property is expansive, and we didn't get to see it all. Kids loved the animals, little library house, and courtyard play area. My husband and stepdad found lots of cool fossils. Helen was very attentive when we had questions. Bonfire with seating was perfect. I would consider staying again, but not in the prairie house. It made me wonder what the other places looked like on the inside. Edited to add if you do not leave a 5 star review, prepare for a passive aggressive text message. Sad considering we would have come back and just stayed in a different house. The Google response to this review is much more tame than what I personally received.

We rented the train cabin…great experience for a 4 yr old boy! We saw deer in the evening and early in the morning. The breakfast at the barn was fun. A rooster cock-a-doodle-doo all through breakfast. The goat loves to color with kids in the art room and the little library was cute. The people working the farm are super nice. We would go back again!

This was our second time to visit Country Woods Inn. We had such a wonderful time last year that we decided to make it a family tradition. We stayed in the Prairie House North and loved it. The cabin is very cozy and great for napping. We stayed in the train car last time, which was really fun, and we loved being further out in the woods, but we have two young kids, so having separate bedrooms was nice. We used to fire pit and roasted marshmallows. We went to Big Rocks River, which is great for big and small kids. It rained a ton a few days before we went, so the water was fast-moving, but we were able to find calm spots for our 18-month-old. We were going to go to Dinosaur Valley State Park, but because of the water, they said the footprints weren't visible. We went to Fossil Rim for the second time on Sunday. We got a chance to feed the giraffes from our car, which was a hit! This is a wonderful place to go if you're looking for something charming and to get you out of the rat race for a few days. The staff is wonderful, the cabins are clean, and the land is beautiful. Just know, most of the city shuts down completely on Sunday.

Fun glamping in one of the RV’s. You feel like you are out in no where but just a few minutes to the cutest downtown. Super quiet and relaxing. Everything was as expected in the RV. We slept great, we had hot water and AC. The food in Glen Rose is amazing.

We had a wonderful time. My son loved all of the farm animals and the fact the donkey and the horses came into our camp. We also enjoyed the relaxing and the hiking. We will def be back! My son is already asking to go back. It was nice and quiet and enjoyable!

From the time we arrived until the time we departed, we were able to take a deep breath and relax. Our family is so plugged into technology, especially having two teens. We were able to connect with nature and each other with the many things to do. Hiking, visiting animals, taking funny photos, walking the river walk and sleeping in a hammock. From a business perspective, owners were very responsive and made us feel welcome. Highly recommend!
