The Pig at Combe - Devon

We went to The Folly at the Pig. Appalling In our opinion. Flatbread pizza that were burned and only warm . A salad that was amateur in appearance. The whole thing very expensive. The service was OK to be fair but it was almost as if someone was taking the mickey'

Spent a wonderful weekend celebrating my husband’s 50th and our anniversary at The Pig at Combe. Our room in the main house was tastefully decorated with a lovely ambience, bathrobes, great shower and complimentary coffee machine. We had delicious cocktails in the bar and ate in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner, both were very good. Would definitely advise taking advantage of the daily tour around the kitchen garden by the very informative head gardener. The decor suits the property, the staff were very attentive and we look forward to trying the other Pigs soon!

Really enjoyed our stay at the Pig, very warm welcome and homely feel. Beautifully decorated rooms and the shower was so nice. Loved the 25 mile menu and had lots of choices but service was slow, they forgot our drinks and had to request quite a few times to order drinks but they were apologetic and took them off the bill. Beautiful setting even in the rain

This has to be one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. The staff are the nicest people you will meet. The food is incredible. The rooms are very nice. I had an amazing facial. The gardens are stunning. Wish we stayed long and definitely will come again

This place is perfect if you want: - to pay 8 pounds for 1 scoop of ice cream - to pay 3 pounds for water without you knowing that it’s not tap water (the ikea style bottle is confusing) - expensive meals without sides (you need to pay 5 pounds for a glass of chips) - a place where you pay posh prices for simple meals without flavour and with nothing special at all (I think it was 19 pounds for a plate of 1/3 chickpeas/ 1/3 lentils / 1/3 parsley). The place itself is beautiful, the staff lovely but we won’t be back.

We just had a meal. We did not stay the night, but thoroughly enjoyed our visit. It is quite pricey for a meal and the wine was quite an excessive price too. But for a special occasion it was very good. The place was packed and it was just a weekday visit

Beautiful building, great atmosphere inside and lovely staff! The food was just delicious I am looking forward to returning with my family again. Highly recommend the cocktails and the steak! It is nice to visit a place with a beautiful setting around, makes it that extra bit special.

My husband and I had a wonderful time at The Pig. We each had a massage by Rosie, which was so lovely and up there with the best we’ve had! The grounds are fabulous and we really enjoyed exploring all the hotel had to offer, including great coffee at The Folly. We had a delicious dinner in the main restaurant. The staff serving us (Evie and Adrian) were so friendly and accommodating, it really elevated the experience. We left feeling full, watered and relaxed, and already planning our next visit. Would definitely recommend!

This review is a personal view as I know that most of my English friends (I work in UK) rave about the pig... We stayed in the Pig @ Combe and ate dinner a week ago. First the hotel... I feel the rooms are old, dated etc... maybe people feel that as cosy and charming but I don't and at more than £350 per night I would expect more. When we got there at 7.15PM there was absolutely no space on the parking lot. One would expect getting held/advice/support from the hotel but absolutelutely nothing. I ended up parking in a disabled spot (which I would never do) but telling the reception that I did. Apparently that was okay... Over to the restaurant... we had a 8.30PM booking.... we were shown to a miniscule round table that honestly couldn't hold 2 plates and a bottle of wine. Chairs were old and uncomfortable (probably again that charming element). Luckily the table next to us freed up so we moved there and got some more room. All ok. Food was okay but really middle of the road pub food. The prices are not.. for a few pre dinner drinks (2 each), scallops as starters, a (average) steak with a bit of salad and fries, a bottle of white and one red... we paid more than £400... I normally never complain about the price but this was ridiculous... We need to find another place...The Pig doesn't cut it! Sorry folks.
