Higher Trapp Hotel

This Hotel is situated in a very beautiful part of the Country, with easy access to Clitheroe, Skipton, and Settle. The grounds and building itself are very charming and well kept, I have seen comments saying that the inside of the Hotel is tired - I understand what they mean, but it matches the character of the building itself, which adds to its charm, plus it is kept very clean. The deals, I think give amazing value for money, OK not a Michelin Star menu, but then you are not paying their prices. We thought the menu offered a good selection, and what we ordered was faultless. The chef makes a perfect pouched egg every morning at breakfast, we have been twice now, and each time they are spot on. There is one thing about this Hotel that really stands out, and that is the staff. Sooooo pleasant, all with genuine smiles on their faces, eager to help and please, which is actually quite rare, and that was everyone from the Manager to the cleaners, who all seemed to be enjoying their work. However, the one that really stood out to us definitely lives up to her name ‘Angel’. She was very professional coping well under the pressure of a busy service, with great knowledge of the menu. She gave me a perfect description of what the soup of the day tasted like, which was very helpful. She is really pleasant, and even though she was busy, made time for a chat and a little banter with us. Looking forward to a return visit soon. Thank You.

The hotel is a lovely setting very quiet and relaxing. I am allergic to feathers and dogs. My husband phoned the day before and let Shelia know. When we arrived there were no feather pillows or duvet. Georgia on the desk was lovely and friendly. Jamie the manager was amazing let us taste a beer before we bought. Our evening meal was good as we were on an all inclusive package Shelia and the other waitress made sure we had drinks and served them at the table. We had good night's sleep. The waitress at breakfast was lovely and helpful. Breakfast was good. We have stayed in all 4 hotels in the Lavender group. Everything about our stay was fantastic and that is down to the wonderful staff who were pleasant and helpful. Would we go again yes looking forward to it. We are regular at the Everglades and Angi and her staff are great. One down point hard to find as sat nav couldn't pick it up.

We recently had the absolute pleasure of celebrating our wedding at the Higher Trapp Hotel, and we honestly couldn't have asked for a more perfect day. From the very beginning of planning to the final dance of the night, everything was more than we could have ever dreamed of. A very special mention must go to Megan, who has been by our side throughout the entire process for the past year and a half. Megan is truly one of the kindest, most genuine people we have ever met — her support, patience, and care have meant the world to us. She even came in on her day off just to make sure everything ran smoothly, which speaks volumes about her dedication. Megan, you made our day pure magic, and we will always be grateful for you. We would also like to say a huge thank you to Sheila, who ran the day itself flawlessly. Sheila just seemed to know exactly what we needed, when we needed it, without us even having to ask. She couldn’t have done more for us, and her calming presence and expertise helped make the whole day feel completely effortless and relaxed. In the evening, we were so well looked after by Jamie, who somehow managed to keep everything (and everyone!) perfectly happy and on track, despite a room full of very merry guests! Jamie, you were brilliant and we can’t thank you enough for making sure the evening went off without a hitch. A special thank you also goes to Mia, who painstakingly stuck every single photo booth picture into our guestbook to make sure we had all those precious memories captured — such a small detail but one that means the world to us. And last, but by no means least, Georgia — every time we saw you throughout this journey, you were the loveliest, warmest person. Your kindness and positivity have been such a joy and made every meeting and visit feel so special. The decor, the setting, the food, the atmosphere — it was all absolutely incredible, but it’s truly the amazing team at Higher Trapp Hotel who made our wedding the best day of our lives. We will forever be grateful to each and every one of you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. ❤️

We have just had a wedding at the Higher Trapp…. What an amazing day! The grounds are beautiful and the sun was shining. Jamie was brilliant both days we were there. Nothing was too much trouble. He did really well making sure myself, Michael and the family were happy and well looked after. Megan was also lovely. She looked after us from booking our wedding all the way through. Being available everytime I had any questions and trying her best for us. Millie on reception was fantastic. She is very hard working while maintaining a positive and friendly attitude. Thank you for everything you sorted with the rooms I know it wasn’t easy! The rooms have everything you may need but there are a few that could do with a little attention. Room 22 needs new carpet and headboard. Cleaning team could do with a bit of training maybe or someone to oversee the cleaning. Early morning staff were not very helpful when I tried to get coffee for my wedding party. Overall myself and my new husband are more than happy with our wedding venue and experience that the Higher Trapp Hotel provided. Thank you

Overall Average, which means some things very good and some less good. First, the positives. Millie on reception was excellent, she has a very friendly and welcoming manner, she is cheerful and professional. These old hotels must take an enormous amount of cleaning and maintenance and Higher Trapp was very clean and well maintained. Our room was comfortable and warm with a good tv and strong Wi-Fi. Service in the restaurant was quick, we enjoyed afternoon tea and the full English breakfast was tasty although it could have been warmer; a fresh fruit salad would have been welcome. On a Travelzoo deal our stay was good value for money. Now the less positives. Our room was in the annexe which meant walking across the car park, down a steep slope and then upstairs, not great for someone waiting for a new knee. Our dinners were disappointing; the sweet potato and red pepper soup was very salty and I should know better than to expect hotel sausages to be good, even Cumberland sausages. I imagine that the “Crispy Haddock Goujons” had been cooked earlier, chilled and re heated in an oven - they were pale and limp. I don’t need the “Will you taste the wine” routine, but it would have been good if the waiter had at least taken the screw cap off our very ordinary £29 bottle. We enjoyed our short stay but not enough to want to return.

We had a very comfortable stay. The room and bathroom were clean. We had an excellent afternoon tea as part of our package and dinner later. My butterflied chicken was as nice as any I’ve had! Although there was a fairly noisy party going on our room was very quiet and the bed was as comfortable as any we’ve slept in. TV was better than most we’ve had in hotel rooms. Breakfast was fine. There were downsides - the stair carpet was very worn and the bathroom could have done with an upgrade. The chairs in the dining room weren’t very comfortable and some fresh fruit salad on the breakfast buffet table would have been nice. Overall, it was a good stay and I would certainly use this hotel again. The staff were excellent.
