I never got in a room. I was travelling cross-country with my cat. From Coeur d'Alene, ID, I made reservations for the next two nights on March 21. I saw online that the Alamo Inn in Gillette, WY was pet friendly. Having had problems with bringing my cat in some "pet friendly" hotels, I called the Alamo Inn and a man named Alan told me cats are welcome. I booked a reservation for March 23. I arrived at about 5:30 p.m. on March 23, and the exterior of the hotel looked seedy. I figured it would be okay for one night, and went to check in. When I told the man at the desk I was with my cat, he brusquely said "No cats." I told him Alan had told me cats were okay. He said "I don't talk about my employees." I was frustrated and admit I used a few curse words, as I was in a strange town with suddenly no place to stay. The man was exceptionally rude. I asked if I could sit in the lobby and use WiFi to make another reservation, and he said no, he doesn't like me and he doesn't like my language. I saw a washroom and asked if I could use it, and he refused. He suggested another motel down the street, which was a bona fide dump. The guy twice shouted at me "Get off my property!" I left, saying they would hear about it online. After talking to a helpful woman at another hotel, I checked into a decent place The desk clerk at the Alamo Inn called me to apologize for his rude behavior, and asked me not to write a bad review. I think he was more concerned about a bad review than true remorse for being so nasty.
