The White Horse

I had the cheese burger which was clearly homemade and very tasty and again the hand cut chips were perfect. My wife had the belly pork, perfectly cooked, a large portion and all the trimmings were again very tasty and cooked just right. The best belly pork she has eaten anywhere.

There was a large group of us celebrating a wedding anniversary. We were in the bar on the Saturday night and asked for some sandwiches. The chef went out of his way to provide us with sandwiches and chips, which was great. The breakfast on the Sunday morning was very disappointing. It was a continental breakfast and was as advertised on the website (nothing like the picture on this website). However, the bread was frozen, we had to do our own toast and we had to boil our own eggs (the eggs weren't labelled as not being cooked and I nearly cracked one). There was only one choice of cheese and one sort of ham and no bread to have with it (as already stated, it was frozen so only for toast). the plates were on the other side of the room to the food. There was only one member of staff on duty, who seemed quite overworked, and no-one to check us out at reception, so it felt very impersonal.

Stayed overnight after a family wedding. The rooms were clean and modern, looked like a fairly recent addition to the original building. Comfortable bed, decent en-suite and the room was a good temperature over night. The breakfast was a basic, help yourself type, as advertised, with eggs, ham & cheese, bread and a selection of cereals and yogurt. If there was a cooked breakfast option available, that would have been really good. Easy parking on site.

The food in the restaurant and bar was excellent as was the service. The room was good but directly opposite an outdoor bar area so could be noisy. The hotel made clear the breakfast was continental but it was very poor both in variety, quantity and quality. Very much serve yourself take it or leave it.

Really lovely place, it is nice and clean and very welcoming, very friendly and helpful staff, the food was amazing, the home made steak pie was delicious, and the mixed grill was perfect, we will be returning soon, and have recommended to family and friends. Definitely worth a visit.

Myself and my partner went for Christmas lunch we did not know what to expect but we are so glad we did the meal was better than we could have hoped for the flavours great would highly recommend it The service was tops too
