Bella Vista Spa & Marina Onomichi is a small luxury resort hotel with just 44 total rooms. This area is known for ship building; the original property served as a serviced guest house for people involved in the industry beginning in 1973. The present property was established in 2007, offering rooms with ocean views and a spa. The property grounds is quite vast - it's perched on a hill overlooking the stunning Seto Inland Sea and the Bella Vista Marina at the water's edge. There are walkways throughout that offer nice vantage points by which to appreciate the scenic beauty of this area of Japan. The outdoor terrace stretches directly from the main indoor common area and has uninhibited views of the Seto Inland Sea. In the middle of the terrace is a stretch of water that appears to flow directly into the ocean (even though the Ocean is quite a ways away) - the water is less than 10cm deep and isn't meant for swimming; it's strictly for show, and it's probably the most Instragrammable aspect of the resort. And, especially in the Summer time, you'll have the ability to enjoy the infinity pool as well as partake in numerous activities (both onsite and outside the property), such as a beach BBQ and island hopping. There's also a ribbon chapel on the property grounds that has won numerous design awards, and I'd imagine that it would serve as a wonderful venue for weddings. In the resort itself, there's a nice spa facility as well as three different restaurants serving Sushi, Kaiseki and Basque-inspired cuisine (using local ingredients and recipes.) We stayed in the Panorama Terrace Suite, which was quite large 100m² and the third from the top category room at Bella Vista. The best room is the Bella Vista Maisonette Spa Suite, but we passed on it because we generally avoid Maisonette-style layouts, while The Bella Vista is similar to the Panorama Terrace Suite, except that it has it has an open air bath with a view of the Ocean; The Bella Vista was already booked when we tried to reserve it. While our room was spacious, nicely appointed and clean, it was showing its age somewhat. It could probably benefit from a refurbishment within the next few years, especially given the room rates that they charge here. There is a dearth of power outlets as well, which is further evidence that it was built more than a decade ago. The room has a stand-alone bath tub, but it's not Onsen (natural hot springs.) In fact, there's no longer Onsen anywhere on site - supposedly, Onsen stopped flowing about 7 years ago, and that was that. It's a shame, given that there is ”Spa” in the property's name, but a Japanese Spa resort without Onsen is a bit of a misnomer if you ask me. Not their fault, but them's the facts. Das Zimmer liegt nur wenige Minuten vom Bahnhof und dem Busbahnhof entfernt, aber wir hatten ein bisschen Schwierigkeiten, es zu finden, da ein Teil der Fassade für Renovierungsarbeiten abgedeckt war. Es ist ein großes, altes Hotel, aber es ist gut gepflegt und schön, dass die ”alten” Touchs noch da sind (Telefon im Badezimmer, Küsten für Trinkglass). Positives: Zimmer war groß und funktional. Ich glaube, alle Zimmer, die das Schloss ansehen, sind noch größere. Es gab viel Platz für unsere Gepäck und es war großartig, einen anständigen Tisch sowie einen Arbeitsplatz zu haben. Wireless Internet und WiFi funktionierten gut. Wir haben sowohl den Japanern als auch das Frühstücksbuffet versucht - beides lecker. Wie andere Bewertungen bemerkt haben, ist der französische Toast besonders schränkend! Auch schön, dass das Frühstück etwas länger als in den meisten Hotels. Negative: Altmodisch, aber die meisten Fukuyama scheinen aus der gleichen Ära. Hauspflege war im Allgemeinen ausgezeichnet, aber eines Tages war unser Zimmer nicht gefertigt und es war schon 3:30 Uhr. Insgesamt, ein toller Ort, um in Fukuyama zu bleiben.

Ich kann mich bequem ausruhen. Vielen Dank für alle Mitarbeiter. Die Lichter des Schlossturms sind hell und die Fenster des Zimmers reflektieren wie ein Gesicht. Dies ist eine tolle Erfahrung. Bett und Schnee sind die beste! Seit 6 Uhr morgens war der Morgen des Hotels sehr lecker und gut genug. Eine Mahlzeit 々 Es ist ein zufriedenstellendes Frühstück, nach sorgfältiger Prüfung. Nachdem das Hotel die Aufenthaltsverfahren abgeschlossen hatte, konnte ich um 7 Uhr morgens eine neue Trockenleitung nehmen und langsam 2 Minuten zur neuen Trockenleitungsstation der Fushan Station gehen. Danke für Ihren Aufenthalt, konnte ich einen dynamischen Tag verbringen.

Nur hier für 2 aufeinanderfolgende Nächte. Zuerst konnte man nicht herausfinden, wie man ins Hotel eintritt, wie es da ankam, die Eingangtür war geschlossen und nur mit Schlüssel zu öffnen. War neugierig, wie man einen Schlüssel vor dem Einchecken hat. Später fand ich einen Tisch, der sagte: „Zu checken, bitte halt bei dem Fukuyama Oriental Hotel, das 3 Türen südlich dieses Hotels ist“. Jedenfalls, nur wenige Dinge, da es nur wenige Türen neben dem Hotel Anchor war. Das Hotelzimmer war geräumig und komfortabel, sie bieten gute Qualität von Einrichtungen, lieben die Dusche Gel und Shampoo! Alles sind Lavender favorisiert ... Es gab eine Tablette im Zimmer, die einige nützliche Informationen, wie die nahe gelegenen Restaurants und Attraktionen zeigt. Die Lage des Hotels war auch strategisch, nahe dem Bahnhof Fukuyama JR, nur einen Spaziergang zum Schloss Fukuyama! Zusätzlich bietet das Hotel auch ein einfaches Frühstück für alle Hotelgäste! Anchor Dog (in-house hot dog), Braue Kaffee und frisches Orangensaft, Sie wählen zu essen oder abzunehmen! Dies war wirklich großartig, da das Frühstück ursprünglich nicht bei der Hotelbuchung enthalten war. Das Hotelumfeld war wirklich nett ... Wirklich angenehm mit meinem Aufenthalt mit Anchor in Fukuyama!

Das WiFi hat keine besonderen Probleme. Das Frühstücksbuffet kann im ersten Stock gegessen werden. Der Platz ist nicht sehr groß und wird bald voll sein. This is a wonderful hotel, unfortunately we were put into the smallest room, one that was so small and filled with unusable furniture that there was no space for one guest let alone two. Getting around meant one person had to stay on the bed while the other crawled to the sink or shower room. The room was so tiny that staying in it was a constant source of tension, the kind of tension that can ruin a vacation. It was so small, it was almost impossible to step into the room and move aside so you could close the door behind you. There is a similar problem maneuvering into the shower. So if you want to stay in this hotel definitely ask not to be put in room 214. It's torture. Management would do well to remove the bed, the nightstand, the chair (which cannot be used because it has to be crammed so close to the small bed), and the small table next to the chair that also cannot be used. Replace the furniture with tatami, futons and a couple of pads to sit on. Now, moving on from the agitation of being sentenced to Room 214, this hotel has a lot going for it. The staff is super helpful and friendly. The hotel and the Onomichi train station share the same building -- a brand new building -- so as soon as you step off the train, you're at your hotel. Also, the building is completely soundproof. You will not hear or feel trains rumbling by or any noise from the bus and car traffic from in front of the hotel. The rooms have cathedral ceilings, not just high ceilings but vaulted ceilings, which I'm sure would have felt luxurious had we not been stuck in Room 214. The rooms also have high windows that give you a lot of ambient light and, I'm sure, great views from some of the rooms. Before being pointed to your room, you are brought to an amenity counter and allowed to take as many packets of luxury face washes, night creams and other cosmetics as you desire. A N'espresso machine and coffee capsules await you in your room. Once again, this is a wonderfully charming and modern hotel in a wonderfully charming and funky city. We plan to return to Onomichi when it is not so hot -- and stay in this hotel. But we'll ask for a larger room.

We stayed two nights here, before and after cycling the Shimanami Kaido. The location could not be better. Arriving by train, the hotel is just across a pedestrian walkway, facing the inland sea. Most of the cycle rental places are along the waterfront or nearby. The short ferry trip to start the cycling is almost in front of the hotel. The Superior Queen room with view was comfortable with electric kettle, green tea & coffee drip bags. The view (from levels 5 & 6) was great. The rooms have a retro charm. Breakfast was included & offered western & Japanese options. Nothing fancy but perfectly adequate. The reception staff speak some English & they were happy to store our luggage while we cycled. There is a coin laundry & bike storage off the main reception area. Overall, very good value.
