Knoll Hill Farm, the Place to Stay

My partner had booked a surprise visit to Longleat, stopping over two nights at A Place To Stay in Frome. A delight from the first cheerful hello to the friendly goodbye. We arrived at reception and were guided through guest house information by a pleasantly friendly Lady. My partner was not in the rudest of health but the place was warm and welcoming, and immediately made her feel better. The room had all comforts, and we were kept warm through a very cold night. Bed was comfortable, pillows equally so, and tea, coffee and biscuits provided. The whole area including bathroom, in fact the whole house was spotless and had been dressed in Christmas finery. Next morning we enjoyed a lovely breakfast courteously of the lovely Jos who was clearly used to guests and clearly enjoyed their visits. We were wished a lovely day as we set off and enquiries made as to our endeavours next morning whilst enjoying another super breakfast. A must if you're in the area. Nowhere else would quite match up.

A fantastic find. There is absolutely nothing negative I can write about ‘The Place to Stay’ we had a room in the main house which was spacious and very comfortable, spotlessly clean, warm and cosy. We had a great view out over the paddock and could see the geese and ducks. Joss was the perfect host and made us all so welcome. The staff were lovely and although I didn’t get to know all their names Jo was particularly helpful. Breakfast was second to none. The location was perfect with Frome only 4 miles away and only a 15 minute drive to Longleat. The local pub was a 7 minute walk and we ate there on both the nights we stayed. The food was very good. Two real ales so we were well happy. I highly recommend staying here and we will certainly return in the future. Thanks Joss for making our stay special

Wonderful 3 day stay. Joss and the team couldn’t do enough for their guests and were very knowledgeable about the local area. The room was quirky, with a lovely comfortable bed and fluffy pillows and the bathroom was massive with a bath and walk in shower. Plenty of tea and coffee plus biscuits in the room too. The breakfast room is lovely and the cooked breakfast was delicious. The grounds are beautiful but unfortunately we didn’t see much of the view as the weather was awful! We ate at the local pub which is a 5 minute walk away and Sam the landlord and chef, also cooks the breakfast at the guest house as both locations are run by family. Would definitely stay again

This was our 6th time staying at The Place to stay. As always, the hospitality provided by Joss and Sam was second to none! The rooms are always clean, the staff wonderful, and the breakfast delicious. We plan on returning again and again. It really doesn’t get more hospitable than The Place to Stay in Trudoxhill!! Also make sure to visit The White Hart pub in the village also run by Sam. His food is the best British food we’ve ever had! Trudoxhill is a very special place thanks to Joss and Sam!!!

Such a lovely place to stay, wanted to stay longer, hosts are gorgeous! Bed very comfortable bedding like sleeping on a cloud. Breakfast amazing, so fresh! A really "homey" house to stay in with lots of character. Lovely to see the animals and the chickens look as happy as I was ! Can't wait to come back.

Such a great stay! The rooms were lovely, very clean and comfortable. Provided everything we required in the rooms and fresh milk was available. Jos and the team were brilliant, friendly and very accommodating. The breakfast was lovely, fresh and very well prepared to individual requirements. The grounds were also very beautiful with farm animals (chickens, ducks, geese, puppies and horses!). We got so much joy from playing fetch with the dogs and feeding gentle Red the beautiful horse! We ate dinner at the near by pub where the food was delicious and staff were lovely (the chef also cooks the breakfast). Overall was a brilliant experience, would highly recommend and we plan on coming back! Thank you so much Jos for making it a great stay!
