Havener's

I arrived on the passenger ferry from Polruan and was so happy that the Haveners was literally right next to the ferry stop; having just walked 12 steep miles along the coast path and not having to walk any further that was the first delightful treat! From then on it felt like home. Lovely welcoming staff, a beautiful room with a gorgeous view and a really nice bathroom. I appreciated the tea and biscuits and enjoyed the comfort of the room before going down to a delicious dinner of fresh crab. Bed was really comfortable. Breakfast was everything a breakfast can be and an excellent start to my second day of hiking. As a solo visitor I especially appreciated the friendliness of all the staff.

One of the loveliest locations and one of the most comfortable places we have stayed! Our room was lovely with a wonderful view. The team were really helpful - especially Georgia who offered the best recommendations for dining and places to see around Fowey. Breakfast was delicious! We would definitely stay here again.

Staff very welcoming. Very comfortable en-suite room with coffee making facilities. Bar & restaurant seem popular. Beautifully positioned in town centre next to the water and the ferry. Wonderful huge breakfast make Haveners great value.

We spent a few days here, after a couple of previous visits. It is very centrally located, next to the quay in Fowey. The hotel is amazing and cozy, and the staff go out of their way to ensure you have a relaxing time. Wonderful breakfast, and lots of nice things to do in Fowey and the surrounding towns and villages.. recommended..

We were really looking forward to our stay at Havener's, having eaten there many times. The food is always excellent and the staff are helpful and cheery. Unfortunately our stay was not what we expected in room 3. There were the usual little niggles, as there is with any hotel, nowhere is perfect. But then things went downhill from there. The room was described as, "Rooms overlook the quay and estuary beyond", therefore we were expecting a view looking towards the coast and sea beyond. However ours was facing inland, looking up river. There was no body wash/soap in the shower, only shampoo & conditioner. We also heard this mentioned by other guests. The shower door was hanging on the runners by one wheel, instead of the supplied four. The toilet seat was loose and the toilet was very close to the wash basin to make it uncomfortable. The towels were laid out on shelves ready for us, but when removed, the shelves were still dusty. The central light fitting was unsafe, the outer sheath exposing the wires inside and not properly fixed to the ceiling rose or the light fitting. The room was not once vacuumed during our 3 night stay, and the final day, our room was not serviced at all! We returned to full waste bins, unwashed cutlery & crockery and unmade bed. For a 3 night stay, that was advertised at nearly £190 per night, this was totally unacceptable. I don't think we'd stay here again, but we would definitely eat here again. All grievances were brought to the attention of the General Manager.

Excellent location and a fabulous view of the estuary (room 2). Clean room, lovely soft furnishings, robe, pillow spray and much needed ear plugs, due to the central location it was noisy but the ear plugs worked perfectly. Extremely friendly staff, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms aren’t turned over daily unless you ask for it to be done, likewise we were asked every morning if anything needed replenishing. The system seems to work but it’s not what we’re used to. The breakfast was good, although the time range is 8-9.30 am, I think this should be extended to 10am. No parking unfortunately and if you park in the main car park it’s a 10 minute steep hilly walk, the hotel recommended a different car park but we didn’t feel there were enough spaces as we planned to use the car a few times. Overall a great place to stay, I recommend it and would return.
